ST.

COLUMBA CATHOLIC CHURCH

June 14, 2015
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Stewardship as a Way of Life

Jesus calls us, as his disciples to a new Christian way of
Life---of which stewardship is part. Jesus calls us individually, by name. Each one of us---clergy, lay person,
married, single, adult, child---has a personal vocation. God intends each one of us to play a unique role--our vocation---and to respond generously to this call
from God. Christian vocation entails the practice of
stewardship.

Thank You, Thank You!

The school and Youth Group
want to thank everyone who
has donated aluminum cans
and plastic bottles. To date,
they have collected $1,385
from the recycling program.
The youth Group will use the
funds to help send the youth
to the Steubenville retreat
this summer, and the school
will use their portion towards the turf program. Please continue to bring your cans
and plastic bottles (CRV only) to the recycle containers located in the gravel lot.

Caring
You are the eyes and ears of our parish! If you know
of a parishioner, neighbor or friend who is sick,
homebound or hospitalized and in need of Communion, prayers, or anointing, please notify the parish
office.

Congratulations!
Congratulations to St. Columba eighth-graders who
graduated on Saturday, June 13th!

Conservation
Part of practicing good stewardship is
protecting our God-given natural resources. Water is precious, necessary for
all life. Due to the drought, the State
and City are implementing water conservation measures. In line with that,
we are reducing our water usage here at
St. Columba by less frequent watering of
our lawns, so you may notice they are
looking a little less green than usual.

New Spiritual Book Library

We will be starting a Spiritual Book Library and would
like people to donate any books they have at home that
they no longer care to keep. Look for the box in the back
of the church with Spiritual Books written on it for
book donations. The library will be located in the Sunday Sacristy.

Annual Catholic Appeal

Thank you to all who have turned in pledges for the Annual Catholic Appeal. If you have not turned in your
pledge, its not too late! If you did not receive a pledge
envelope, you may pick one up at the back of the church.
Our assessment this year is $27,000. All excess funds
will be returned to St. Columba to be used for much
needed improvements.
Please make your check payable to: Diocese of San
Diego. Pledges to date: $33,682.
