I went there with my family for three days during last school holiday. One of the
most tourist attraction in Penang is Penang Bridge. We can see that it is the longest
bridge in Asia country. Then, we continued our journey to Penang Hill. Penang Hill is
the most popular with funicular railway. I was so excited to try the funicular railway
because I never tried it. As the saying goes, you never know till you have tried.
On the next day, we visit the Botanical Garden. My father said that at the
Botanical Garden, we can see a lot of monkey. The monkey is not kept in the cage
but they roam freely. But we cannot give foods to rhem because it can harm us.
Then,we went to the snake temple and butterfly farm. There, we can see many kind
of butterflies and their species.
After that, I was really excited especially during lunch time. Because we know
that Malaysia has many races and we can find variety of foods from there races. In
Penang, we can find Malays,Indians and Chinese food but the most popular food in
Peanang is 'Nasi Kandar' and 'Laksa'. Other than delicious , all these foods also
cheap and easy to find.
PENANG
I was born I a state called Penang and lived there for the past eighteen
years of my life. My father is born and leaves in Penang for the past 54 years of his
life while my mother was from Kedah but after her marriage with my father she also
lived in Penang until today. I live in a town known as Seberang Jaya. Penang is a
beautiful state and unique state in Malaysia. Although Penang is the second
smallest state after Pelis in Malaysia but it is a magnificent place. Penang is divided
into two parts one is the island another is the mainland and is separated by The
Straits of Malacca. The island is joined to the mainland by the Penang Bridge which
is the fourth longest bridge in Southeast Asia. There are many beautiful and unique
cultures and landmarks in Penang.
The city has a population of 1,253,748 making the city as the second largest
metropolitan by population in Malaysia. If you are interested in history the historical
city is the place. The earliest Malaysian history occurred in this place and its
common and notable historical site is Fort Cornwallis. Besides that the Kek Lok Si
Buddhist Temple is a magnificent building as it is the largest Buddhist temple in
Southeast Asia and has the largest Kuan Yin statue in the world. Other interesting
and mind blowing spots are the Kapitan Keling Mosque, Buddhist Khoo Kongsi and
the Islamic Museum.
Penang is also famous for its beautiful beaches, flora and fauna. Among
the famous beaches are the Monkey Beach or known as Teluk Duyung. This beach is
declared the National Park of Penang and is the smallest National Park in the world.
There are 7 other beaches which is also declared as National Park of Penang and
they are Teluk Bahang, Teluk Tukun, Tanjung Aling, Teluk Ketapang, Pantai Keracut,
Teluk Kampi and Pantai Mas. The unique features about this park are that it contains
a collection of habitats not found in other national parks in Malaysia and has
magnificent meromictic lake, wetlands, mangroves, mudflats, coral reefs and turtle
nesting beaches. The meromictic lake in Pantai Keracut is the only lake meromictic
lake is Southeast Asia and one of the two meromictic lake in the region of Asia.
There is also a historical lighthouse in the park which is accessible through the far
end of Teluk Duyung. This lighthouse was built in 1883 at a cost of 37,929 by the
British, it is located 242 metres above sea level. Other famous and beautiful
beaches are the Tanjung Bungah and Batu Ferringhi.
Penang is famous for its festivals throughout the year. The cultural mosaic
of Penang naturally means that they are a great many number of festivals to
celebrate. The Chinese celebrate, among others, the Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn
Festival, Hungry Ghost Festival, Qing Ming, and the feast days of various deities.
The Malays and Muslims celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Haji, and Maulidur
Rasul while the Indians observe Deepavali, Thaipusam and Thai Pongal. Christmas,
Good Friday and Easter are celebrated by Christians. The annual Saint Anne's
Novena and Feast Day draws thousands of Catholics to St. Anne's Church in Bukit
Mertajam. Buddhists observe Wesak Day while the Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi. Many of
these festivals are celebrated in a large scale and are also public holidays in
Penang. Bon Odori is an annual event held at the Esplanade by the expatriate
Japanese population. The Penang Government organises the annual George Town
Festival which celebrates the city's World Heritage Site status with arts and live
cultural performances throughout the month of July. The famous Pesta Pulau Pinang
(Penang Fest) is a combination of trade expo, family-oriented carnival and cultural
events held throughout the month of December since the 1960s primarily at the
Pesta site in Sungai Nibong and other locations in the state
As one takes the first steps into Penang the food is the think one should
not forget to taste as the state offers a wide mouth-watering, tasty and eye
catching cuisines. Penang cuisine is the cuisine of the multicultural society of
Penang. Penang, long known as the food capital of Malaysia, is renowned for its
good and varied food. Penang was recognised as having the Best Street Food in Asia
by Time magazine in 2004, citing that "nowhere else can such great tasting food be
so cheap". Penang's cuisine reflects the Chinese, Nyonya, Malay and Indian ethnic
mix of Malaysia, but also shows some influence of Thailand. Its especially famous
"hawker food", many served al fresco, strongly features noodles, spices, and fresh
seafood. The best places to savour Penang's food include Gurney Drive, Pulau
Tikus, New Lane, New World Park, Penang Road and Chulia Street, as well
as Raja Uda and Chai Leng Park over on the mainland.
Penang is also famed for its traditional biscuits such as the tau sar pneah. If one
visits Penang there are a few dishes one should not forget to taste and they are
Laksa Penang, Nasi Kandar, Char Kway Teow, rojak and cendol. The cendol is one of
the food one should not forget to taste. Cendol is a dessert with green noodles in
coconut milk, brown sugar and shaved ice. There's a very famous stall along the
busy street of Penang Road near the "spider" pedestrian bridge leading to
KOMTAR. Another not so famous 'cendol' stall is located just opposite to it.
During the semester holidays, my siblings and I were quite in the dumps because
there was nothing to do and we were bored to death. Out of the blue, my parents
decided to take us to the National Park in Pahang. The Pahang National Park is one
of the most popular tourist attractions in Malaysia. It is known far and wide for its
beauty. As the saying goes, "Seeing is believing", I had yearned to go there for
many years and it seemed like my dream was coming true. In Pahang, we stayed in
a motel. It was a traditional building with lots of exquisite carvings and designs. The
next morning, we went to the National Park by jeep. The jalopy wheezed up and
down the bumpy road, it was on the verge of breaking down. When we finally
reached our destination, we heaved a sign of relief. When I stepped into the park, I
was thunderstruck. It was beautiful, more beautiful than I had ever imagined! Green
trees towered over colourful flowers. Birds were chirping and squirrels played on the
mossy ground. The majestic Gunung Tahan loomed in the background, a king
reigning over his subjects. Palm trees swayed their leafy arms as the breeze blew, a
sign of welcome. This was truly Mother Nature at her best. Amid all this splendour, I
seemed just to be just a tiny being admiring a huge palace. In the National Park, it
was very cool and peaceful. After being in the bustling city with its noisy traffic, the
silence was music to my ears. The hectic days in the city were replaced by soothing
walks and recreational activities. I soon found out that there was more to it than
meets the eye. As you walk along the jungle trail, you can be sure that hundreds of
pairs of eyes are watching your every move. Occasionally, squirrels would playfully
jump on your back or rabbits would brush against your legs. Flowers bloomed
everywhere, dotting the green with red and yellow. However, beware, for the most
poisonous mushrooms are those with brilliant colours. In the National Park one can
go for walks or go...
Amazing as it may sound. A cooling environment in the hot and humid weather of
Penang. Penang Hill or affectingly known by locals as "Bukit Bendara", is one of the
only cool places to visit in Penang.
The cooling and serenity of the hill especially when you are at the peak will provide
a much needed calm and relaxation from the hot and bustling stress by the city of
George Town.
There is no doubt that some of best Penang places of interest lies in the historic city
of Georgetown. Centered around the famous fort Cornwallis, Georgetown has been
shaped many years by trade, commerce and good old fashion graft.
Life in the inner city thrives today much as it always has despite the encroachments
of the 21st century. It remains organic and slowly evolving, a stark contrast to the
many others Asian cities that have seen their hearts and souls ripped out in order to
make way for modern skyscrappers and giant high rises.

Next we go on to the Snake Temple. It was built in 1850 and dedicated to the deity
Chor Soo Kong or also known as the Temple of The Azure Cloud. According to the
history, it is a sanctuary for pit-vipers said to be the 'servants' of the deity and these
poisonous snakes, seen coiled round the pillars, beams and potted plants within the
temple are believed to be rendered harmless by the smoke of the burning incense.
The temple is a free admission for visitors. One of the most popular temple in
Penang is the Kek Lok Si where it was built in 1890 and it took 20 years to complete.
It was reputed to be the most beautiful and largest Buddhist temple complex in
South-east Asia where it features gardens, a giant turtle pool, shrines and beautiful
sculptures. The history of the seven-tier pagoda is a shrine dedicated to
Boddhisattva Tsi Tsuang Wang, one of the enlightened who declined to enter
Nirvana so that he could help bring others to salvation. It is open to public from
early morning to late night everyday and the admission is free.
In town, you can find the famous P.Ramlee's House which is situated along Jalan
P.Ramlee (formerly Caunterhall Road), is the newly restored wooden house where it
kept the memorial of the late P.Ramlee, Malaysia's foremost entertainer. It was
originally built in 1926 by his father and uncle, the house had previously undergone
successive repairs before being taken over by the National Archives as an extension
of its P.Ramlee Memorial project in Kuala Lumpur. The display within and outside the
house features the main living areas and also the life history of the late singer,
actor, composer and director. The various artifacts include his personal memorabilia
related to his life in Penang and also items belonging to his family. The admission is
free and it is open on Tuesday to Sunday from 9.00am till 6.00pm.
Batu Ferringhi is the most attractive place for tourist to stay because it has a
several large resort, like Rasa Sayang, Golden Sands, Park Royal, Bayview etc. It
looks like a new village, but it's very old. It used to be a kampong with a little fishing
village. If you want to see a part of this old village you have to turn right when you
have passed the Park Royal. The main road runs more or less straight along the
coast for 3km, on which all the hotels, tourist shop, Internet cafe's, motorcycle
rental offices and restaurants (House of Kampong, Deep Sea or The Last Drop e.o.),
are lined up side by side. In the center you'll find the Telekom office, post office,
police station and clinic. You can get to Batu Ferringhi by taxi, car or bus. It takes a
thirty-minute bus ride west of Georgetown on Transitlink No.202 or Transitlink aircon No.93 but there is no bus straight from the airport (Bayan Lepas) to Batu
Ferringhi. A taxi ride will cost you around RM50 or more. The most interesting part
at the Batu Ferringhi is the beach itself where it is quite good. The beach is kept
clean, even on weekends when hordes of day-trippers visit. At the beach we have
variety of games such as jet-skis, banana boat, parachute and horse riding. During
weekend the place is being crowded by local people and visitors having picnic and
relaxing with their family and friends. At night, there will be a good night markets on
the main road selling souvenir, clothes, food, bags, and etc. The big hotels offer
good deals at certain cultural festival and season for visitors is available if you want
a few days by the beach.
The ferry would be a nice experience if you come from Butterworth, Seberang Perai.
Or you could take the ferry for a trip to Butterworth. If you are driving and feel that
the toll fee is a little expensive, then you can try taking the ferries. Ferries service
transport cars and people to and fro from the main land to the island everyday. The
cost of taking ferries is about RM7. From Butterworth, it is necessary to take the
ferry to Penang Island. The ferry service is available around the clock for both
passengers and vehicles. Tickets are purchased at the Butterworth terminal. But the
waiting time may be longer than taking the bridge, but once you are in the ferries,
you can step out of the car and enjoy the breeze.
Penang is unique and interesting place where it offer a lot of excitement and fun.
Besides it is popular of food island and it is heaven for shoppers. The experience in
Penang is unforgetfull. Come and experience the enjoyment to the fullness!

On top of that, there are many places of interests in country such as beaches,
islands and rain forest. Malaysia's rain forest is considered as the oldest in the
world. The diverse species of animals and plant life continue to excite a great deal
of scientific research. Many believe that some undiscovered plant may hold cures to
many currently incurable human diseases. There are many islands in our country
such as Pulau Langkawi, Pulau Redang, Pulau Ketam and many others. Pulau
Langkawi has a lot of historitical informations. Those who are in favour of history
can go there to explore the history of that place. All the beaches in those islands are
beautiful. The sand is soft and white. The accommodation is well-established and
that makes those islands ideal places to visit.
Following this, there are also international achievements of our country. Those
achievements include the existence of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA),
Formula One (F1) racing circuit and the Petronas Twin Towers. KLIA is unique
because it has all that is needed for business, entertainment and relaxation within
its boundaries. The airport is part and parcel of the Multimedia Super Corridor where
high technology industries are being actively developed. Nevertheless, there is a
Formula One Race Track near the airport, so foreign car racing enthusiasts from all
over the world can come for a visit to gather here. Besides that, Petronas Twin
Towers which is a building that soars 452 metres into the sky is once upon a time,
the tallest building in the world and yet it is a national pride to the people of
Malaysia.
In short, Malaysia is unique that it has diversity of races, religions and cultures, a
stable and peaceful environment, places of interest and some internal
achievements. Those are important characteristic of our nation. It is rich of cultural
heritage; it would be worth to play a visit here.

course, the local cuisine. Foreign tourists find these places ideal for a holiday, as
they get away from their cold countries.
Besides, Malaysia's cool hill-resorts like Cameron Highlands, Fraser's Hill and
Genting Highlands make the day pleasant and refreshing, away from the hot
lowlands.
Lastly, Malaysia is a rich country, famous the world over for its tin, rubber and palm
oil exports. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city, is the largest in Malaysia, with many
modern buildings. The international airport at Subang is always busy. I am proud of
my country which I love dearly.
