GUARANTEE OF QUALITY
In 1853 OTIS created the first safety elevator in history;
ever since then, right up to today, it has always been the
world leader in vertical transport. A benchmark for quality
and service throughout the world, Otis employs more
than 60,000 professionals worldwide, who continually
strive not only to meet all your expectations but to exceed
them.
Past, present and of course future, a future of constant
innovation and development of new technologies,
in order to offer you the best products imaginable:
elevators that are safer, quieter, more comfortable and
environment-friendly. Quality elevated to the highest
level.
RESPECT FOR
THE ENVIRONMENT
Environment-responsibility is one of the fundamental
pillars of OTIS philosophy. We are determined to make
a green future a reality and to set a benchmark for
the elevator industry by developing clean, low-energy
consumption technologies.
This philosophy is materialized in the OTIS GeN2TM
range of elevators that do not produce hazardous
waste and are up to 50% more energy efficient than
conventional elevators, achieving substantial energy
savings and significant reductions in CO2 emissions.

safety and environmental protection
Conventional wire ropes
FLEXIBLE STEEL BELTS
The polyurethane-coated flat steel
belts patented by Otis are 20% lighter
and last up to three times longer than
conventional ropes. Their superior
flexibility allows for a much smaller
bending radius.
D

CONVENTIONAL MACHINE
The old geared machine has more
movable parts, resulting in lower
energy efficiency due to friction and,
thus, higher energy consumption.

TRADITIONAL SHEAVES
The greater bending radius of
traditional wire ropes requires a
machine with a sheave of more
than 600mm in diameter.
GEN2TM SHEAVE
The sheave of the GeN2TM system
is only 80mm in diameter and
has allowed Otis to design a
machine that is 70% smaller than
traditional machines.
TRADITIONAL INSPECTION OF
WIRE ROPES. Traditional inspections
of the wire ropes are only carried out
periodically and require passenger
service to be interrupted for elevator
maintenance.

PROVEN RELIABILITY
Designed to be reliable and built to last
Wear and tear has been significantly reduced and the durability has been increased, thanks
to the strength of the flat, polyurethane-coated steel belts, the crowned sheaves and the
reduced number of movable components in the gearless machine.
Otis has improved its reliability and safety with its patented electronic PULSETM system that
continuously monitors the status of the steel cords of the belt: 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. Contrary to what occurs with the current visual inspections of conventional wire
ropes, the PULSETM system automatically detects any anomaly and communicates it to our
technicians, thus improving the reliability and safety of the installation.
REM (optional)
The REM system is the most advanced in its class and
ensures the reliability of the elevator.
The REM system continuously monitors elevator functions
24 hours a day, detecting deteriorating components,
intermittent anomalies and small operational defects that
might otherwise go unnoticed. It also provides immediate,
two-way voice communication between passengers inside
the car and trained Otis personnel at the OTISLINE

SAVINGS OF UP TO 70%
Otis GeN2 Comfort elevators can save up to 70% of the energy consumption of the motor. The table below compares the
nominal power and consumption of the motor of different types of elevator, as well as the car lighting consumption, according
to whether they have automatic car lighting or not:

Comparison of energy consumption taking an average car load of 300 kg and 80,000 trips a year. Nominal speed of the GeN2 Comfort and the conventional electric
elevator: 1 m/s. Nominal speed of the hydraulic elevator: 0.63 m/s.
The annual savings achieved, in kWh and in euros, thanks to the GeN2 system and the automatic car lighting system, are as

A further 240 annual savings can be added to the above for the reduction in the power supply contracted.
Otis GeN2 Comfort elevators require less current during acceleration and normal run, resulting in savings when measuring
up the installation.
We calculate that if all the existing elevators in the world were replaced by Otis GeN2, CO2 emissions in the elevator industry
would be reduced by 50% each year.
NOTE: The savings in euros may vary according to the tariff applied by the electric company.

Aesthetics
COMFORT
Optima
The Optima perfectly illustrates the principle that
elegance can be achieved through simplicity provided its based on an inspired idea. With the
Optima design, that idea is embodied by the
car operating panel actually illuminating the car.
Important to the cars refined appearance are
the panels themselves. In three finishes, they are
cheering to the eye and easy to maintain. In fact it is
the balance between the aesthetic and the practical
that defines the Optima car.

Selecta
The name unequivocally defines the design. The
Selecta car is about choice. Again illuminated by
the car operating panel, it satisfies the most diverse
requirements. There are five car wall designs, various
flooring types together with different car operating
panel designs and handrail types. The possibilities are
indeed endless. Demonstrating that the Selecta car
has been conceived by us to be designed by you.

Lumina
The Lumina car is distinguished by its range of ceiling
lighting arrangements. Each offers a different level
of illumination, from the discreet to the sumptuous,
and in combination with a choice of four wall
types, a host of decorative effects can be achieved.
Painstaking detail can also be found in the quality of
the car fittings which cumulatively help establish the
prestige of the Lumina car.
