Major comments *****

*** Clause 6.7
Error present. We do not use pattern loading during global analysis. See sections 9.3.4 and 9.3.5 to support
this statement.
Is:
" NOTE 1

Combinations 1 to 4 are for the global analysis of the structure..."

Should be:
" NOTE 1

Combinations 1 and 3 are for the global analysis of the structure..."

*** Clause 9.5

The reference to the table is wrongly inserted (should be just the table number, not the table number AND the
table name). This causes very difficult reading. Further the description of the table is incomplete and the word
"critical" is redundant.
Is:
"Table 9-1Upright force for the determination of spring stiffness gives the value of the baseplate spring
stiffness that should be used at the ULS in the global analysis and critical upright member check."
Should be:
"Table 9-1 gives the value of the baseplate spring stiffness that should be used at the ULS in the global
analysis and upright member check and at the SLS sway check. "
*** Clause 10.4
Wrong information in the main text. See clause A2.1 for the correct information.
Is:
"The rotational stiffness and the load carrying capacity of this connection shall be determined from tests as
given in Annex A2 ..."
Should be:
"The vertical deflection, the load carrying capacity and optionally also the rotational stiffness of this connection
shall be determined from tests as given in Annex A2 ..."
*** Clause 11.2.1
Wrong sign used. DB is the deflection, not the limit (see Fig. 16).
Is: " DB = the larger of ..."

Should be: " DB <= the larger of ..."

*** Clause 11.2.2

Extremely difficult reading, incomplete information.
Is:

"The maximum calculated sway deflection at the top of the rack shall not exceed;

H / 200 where sway deformations (SLS) are calculated using a second order analysis (i.e. method 1, 2 or
4),

H / 350 for the vertical bracing (if present),

H / 350 for unbraced racks.

NOTE: If methods 3 or 5 are used it is not necessary to carry out a SLS deflection check as this is implicit in the methods"

Could be:
"The maximum calculated sway deflection (SLS) at the top of the rack calculated using a second order
analysis (i.e. method 1, 2 or 4) shall not exceed;

H / 200 in general,

H / 350 for the vertical bracing (if present),

H / 350 for unbraced racks."

NOTE: If methods 3 or 5 are used it is not necessary to carry out a SLS deflection check as this is implicit in the methods."

*** Clause 11.3

Reference to Figure 18 is missing.
Is:
"... pallets with a width tolerance of less than 10mm the bearing width (a 0) shall be at least ..."
Could be:
"... pallets with a width tolerance of less than 10mm the bearing width (a 0, see Fig. 18) shall be at least ..."
*** Clause 11.3
Figure 18 contains again information from Fig. 17. Figure 18 should contain just the 'pallet', not the 'racking'
and the 'pallet'.
Alternatively, the 'pallet' picture could be added to Figure 17. Then no Figure 18 is needed. Perhaps that's why
the reference to Figure 18 doesn't exist.
*** Clause B.3.3.3
The 2nd paragraph starting with "Imperfections and sway deformations..." does not belong to the
determination of sway stiffness, beacuuse it deals with determination of member forces. It therefore belongs to
clause B.3.4.
*** Annex F
Error present.
Is:
"bT;bFT are reduction factors for the flexural and torsional flexural buckling modes"

Should be:
"bT;bFT are reduction factors for the torsional and torsional flexural buckling modes"

***** 2. Optional comments *****

*** Clause 5.2.1
Is split wrongly into 2 paragraphs in: "... given in [SPLIT] ANNEX C ..."
*** Clause 5.4.2
Is split wrongly into 2 paragraphs in: "... by the height (see [SPLIT] ANNEX C)."
*** Clause 5.4.2
Description of Figures 8 and 9 could be unified, e.g. both could be starting with "Plan view of...".
*** Clause 5.4.3
Is split wrongly into 2 paragraphs in: "... by the height (see [SPLIT] ANNEX C)."
*** Clause 6.3.5
Difficult reading.
Is: "... equals 0.5 kN ..."

Could be: "... equal to 0.5 kN ..."

*** Clause 6.4.2

There is no direct reference to the distance of 50 mm in the drawing, it is just shown in the Figure. An extra
sentence could be added at the end of the 2nd paragraph:
"The distance between the optional backstop and the nominal position of the unit load shall be at least 50
mm."
*** Clause 6.4.2, Figure 10
Is: "Spine bracing"

Could be: "Vertical bracing"

*** Clause 6.7

Misleading information, difficult reading.
Is:
" The load combinations given in table 6-1 shall be considered in the design checks (taking into account... "
Could be:
" The load combinations given in table 6-1 shall be considered in the design (taking into account... "
*** Clause 9.4.4
Weird signs in the bulleted list:

Is: "... multiplied by a factor of 3' "

Is: "... obtained from clause 5.4.1' "

Could be: "... multiplied by a factor of 3"

Could be: "... obtained from clause 5.4.1"

*** Clause 10.2.2

Difficult reading.
Is:
"An analytical approach is given in EN15512:2009 clause 9.6, and generally this does not lead to an optimal
solution and so a test procedure is given in ANNEX A."
Could be:
"An analytical approach is given in EN15512:2009 clause 9.6. This generally does not lead to an optimal
solution and so a test procedure is given in ANNEX A."
*** Clause 10.3
Surplus full stop.
Is: "... analysis (see chapter 9.) and shall be ..."

Could be: "... analysis (see chapter 9) and shall be ..."

*** Clause 10.5.2.2

The title feels vague and could be unified with the title of one of the following clauses (called Torsional
buckling).
Title is: "Down-lane"

Could be: "Down-lane flexural buckling"

*** Clause 10.5.2.3

The title feels vague and could be unified with the title of one of the following clauses (called Torsional
buckling).
Title is: "Cross-lane"

Could be: "Cross-lane flexural buckling"

*** Clause 11.3

A semicolon used instead of a double dot.
Is:

"... is determined as follows;"

Could be: ""... is determined as follows:"

*** Clause 13
A solid horizontal line is missing in the bottom part of table 13-1 separating the text "FEM10.2.07 Clause
reference" and the text "10.4".
*** Clause B.1.2
A semicolon used instead of a double dot.
Is:

"... on rigid supports due to;"

Could be: ""... on rigid supports due to:"

*** ANNEX E
The text "2ND ORDER ANALYSIS IN INDEFINITE ELASTIC FIELD" should not be bold (comparing to
the text "1ST ORDER ANALYSIS").
