COURSE DESCRIPTION
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art turned modern Olympic sport emphasizing kicking
techniques from a mobile stance that provides an aerobic workout to the participant. The course will
provide instruction and practice in the differing techniques necessary for white-belt degree, so that the
participant will experience taekwondo as a combination of sport, exercise, self-defense and/or combat
and philosophy.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course will enable students to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the rules, strategies, or tactics when playing the game.
2. Demonstrate respect for others abilities through sportsmanship.
3. Engage in cooperative learning.
COURSE OUTLINE
Week 1
I. Overview:
A. Objective of the sport, sports skills, and scope of the course
B. Course objectives, class policies, course requirements and grading
system
C. Warm-up and cool down routine
Week 2
Introduce middle punch, horse riding stance, Forward stance, Front stretch and Front
kick.
Foundation form 1, In-out and out-in kick
Week 3

Review Foundation form 1 & 2, self defense 1 & 2, white belt kicks

7 pts. = Sometimes needs clarification about direction; Hard to get started and stay
involved; More passive than active; Sometimes distracted from the task; rarely shares
thoughts and ideas.
5 pts. = Does not pay attention to instructions; distracts others; needs reminders to stay
on tasks; Passive.
1 pts. = Did not participate.

POLICIES
1. All students must wear the prescribed attire for the activity. Failure to do so will forfeit
attendance for that day.
2. Students exceeding the 15-minute grace period for tardiness will be marked absent.
3. Non-participation in the activity may be considered an absence regardless of excuse.
4. Students are allowed a maximum of 4 absences and 2 counts of tardiness regardless of
excuse.
5. It shall be the instructors prerogative to allow any student to make-up for any missed
requirement upon presentation of proof of excuse.
