555 Oscillator circuit.

D.C. = 95%
f = 100 Hz
Vcc = 12V
The frequency of oscillation is:
1.44
= (1)
( + 2 )

The period is given by:

1
= + = = 10 (2)

Where the charge time is given by:

= 0.693 ( + ) (2.1)

And the discharge time by:

= 0.693 ( ) (2.2)

Achieve a duty cycle of 30% at the output is not possible so we are going to calculate for a
duty cycle of 70% then inverting it we get the desired 70%.
From 2 we get
= ( + ) 0.95 = 9.5
= ( + ) 0.3 = 500

Substituting in 2.1 and 2.2 respectively:

9.5
( + ) = = 13.708 (2.1)
0.693
500
( ) = = 721.5 (2.2)
0.693

Then:
721.5
= (3)

From 3 in 2.1a:
721.5
( + ) = 13.708

Then:
12.98
= (4)

We choose C = 1 uF, so we get from 3 and 4:

= 721.5
= 12 986.5
Monostable circuit.

The time pulse is:

= 1.1( + ) < 10 (5)
So, min and max values will be:
= 1.1() 1 (5.1)
= 1.1( + ) 9 (5.2)
From 5.1:
1
= (6)
1.1
From 5.2 and 6:
8
= (7)
1.1

We choose C = 330 nF and get:

R = 2754.82 ohms
Pot = 22 038.57 ohms
Then for the power step we have:

0.1 (8)

= 2.2 10)

Substituting and solving for :

0.1 (1103 ) = 100

(1106 )
= = = 45.45
2.2 2.2
Then we looked up the Cin from IRF640 datasheet to get RG in terms of : Cin=1275 pF

(45.45106 )
= = = = 35.65
(12751012 )

From design rules, we choose half Rg, i.e. 18 k

Finally, we can get many different Ton using the next equation:

()()
= (11)
100

The same for Vmean:

()()
= (12)
100

Where is the Duty Cycle.
