    Introduction

    I chose the Pixton tool because most kids enjoy reading comics. Creating the comics can be

    even more exciting. Creating authentic products is a component of Project-based learning (Miller,

    2012). Not only does it meet the project-based learning model, but it also meets some of the ISTE

    Standards for teachers such as the first one of Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity

    (International Society for Technology in Education, n.d.). I decided to teach this tool with a video

    using Screen-o-matic because having a visual and audio presentation will meet more of seven

    learning styles to meet more of the learners needs (Learning Styles Online, n.d). The objective of

    the lesson is for students to be able to create a comic using critical thinking. When students have

    to create something that gives information about what they learned, they have to use their thinking

    skills to put it in a way for others to understand.

    Ways to Use in the Classroom

    Students can create a comic with several panels reviewing a book. This can be done by

    giving them requirements to put in their comic. This would be used in place of a traditional book

    report. Another way this tool could be utilized in the classroom would for students to change the

    end of a story. This will get their creative side working, while being a fun and engaging way to

    imagine a different outcome. One last way to use the comic in the classroom would be to have the

    students recreate a historical event. This could be used as a summative assessment to ensure that

    they know and understand the main parts of an event in History.

    Procedure

    1. Go to https://www.pixton.com/

    2. Click on the Im a student tab at the bottom of the screen

    3. Click on the No button when it asks for activation link.

    4. Fill out student sign up information, then click Get started

    5. Fill out your date of birth and State you live in. Then click Save Changes

    6. Website will send you an activation Link. Click on link in E-mail. It will take you to a

    screen asking if you want to upgrade. Choose No Thanks

    7. The next screen will ask if you need help on using the website.

    a. Click Not Now

    8. Click on Create new

    9. Click on Comic Strip

    10. Select Basic

    11. Select a background

    a. Define the background

    12. Choose the number of characters.

    a. Choose the characters.

    13. Enter Title

    14. Enter captions within comic.

    15. If you want to add another panel, click the plus sign.

    16. When finished, click Publish

    a. Ensure you have the correct title and language on the publish page. Press Publish

    when complete.

    17. The screen will give you a link to publish the comic. You can choose different options.

    a. I chose E-mail.

    b. Copy the link and enter the address for e-mail on the third step.
