Introduction
I chose the Pixton tool because most kids enjoy reading comics. Creating the comics can be
even more exciting. Creating authentic products is a component of Project-based learning (Miller,
2012). Not only does it meet the project-based learning model, but it also meets some of the ISTE
Standards for teachers such as the first one of Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
(International Society for Technology in Education, n.d.). I decided to teach this tool with a video
using Screen-o-matic because having a visual and audio presentation will meet more of seven
learning styles to meet more of the learners needs (Learning Styles Online, n.d). The objective of
the lesson is for students to be able to create a comic using critical thinking. When students have
to create something that gives information about what they learned, they have to use their thinking
Students can create a comic with several panels reviewing a book. This can be done by
giving them requirements to put in their comic. This would be used in place of a traditional book
report. Another way this tool could be utilized in the classroom would for students to change the
end of a story. This will get their creative side working, while being a fun and engaging way to
imagine a different outcome. One last way to use the comic in the classroom would be to have the
students recreate a historical event. This could be used as a summative assessment to ensure that
