Key Terms

Integer: the set of coun5ng numbers (1, 2, 3...) and
their opposites (-1, -2, -3...), and zero.

Posi1ve Number: Any number greater than zero.

Nega1ve Number: Any number less than zero.
Launch: Adding on a Number Line
1. Plot the rst number.
2. Determine which direc5on you are moving by looking
at the sign of the second number (+ = right, - = leJ).
3. Determine how many spaces you are moving by
looking at the value.
4. Plot that point.
