    UCSP ASSIGNMENT 2

    1. It is said that culture is a very powerful force that affects the lives of the people. Explain
    what this statement means.

    The statement said that Culture is the most powerful force that affects the behavior of the people.
    This implies the idea that people adapt the nature in a particular place that they live. Culture
    always make the people to be one and have their own characteristics that make them different
    from other principles. Interestingly, some scientists believe that culture may be adaptive and thus
    help our brains function better to help us reproduce more successfully. Since we were born we
    live in the culture we have and it can classify how we behave and the way we think. As we adapt
    those behaviors and beliefs we are also spreading it to other people in the new generation. All in
    all this means that culture is the overall characteristics of a society that we adapted.

    2. Do you believe in animism? Reason out.

    From “Merriam Webster”, Animism is a doctrine that the vital principle of organic
    development is immaterial spirit. It is the attribution of conscious life to objects in and
    phenomena of nature or to inanimate objects. I can say that I believe in animism for the
    reason that I be certain of the idea that belief in the existence of spirits separable from
    bodies. In our discussion in philosophy when we were at 11 th grade we studied about
    the duality which is the body and soul. The soul might leave the body, either temporarily or
    permanently, and in the latter case the body perished. The presence of the soul is therefore
    essential to life. But incidentally reference has been made to the absence of the soul for periods
    usually brief. Therefore I do believe in animism.

    3. Do you believe that as soon as the person dies, his/her soul immediately leaves the body
    and hoes/roam anywhere on earth before it goes to heaven, hell, purgatory, etc.?

    The Bible implicitly informs us of the time the soul leaves the body when it informs us, “As the
    body apart from the spirit is dead; so faith apart from works is dead” (James 2:26). When is the
    body dead? When it is apart from the soul. When does the soul leave? At the point of death. This
    reflects a basic fact of Christian theological anthropology. The soul is not just a thing which
    inhabits the body; it is the life principle of the body. In other way there are so many evidence that
    there several signs that spirit can live with living people. So I Think soul can travel after the
    person died.
    4. Do you believe in the existence of the soul? Why or why not?

    Yes, I do believe that soul exists. Soul is the life principle of the body. I believe that our body is
    separated from our soul. Separation, as we shall see, does not necessarily refer to the moment
    of death but to a full separation of body and soul even during earthly life. This is termed
    “philosophical” separation, a term which equally must involve the concept of a “philosophical”
    union of body and soul or rather “fall” of soul into body. I can say we cannot feel happiness,
    Sadness and other unpredictable feelings we feel we are robot like things if we don’t have our
    own soul. Soul of every person is different that make them unique from other.

    5. In a Catholic Church wedding ceremony, the bride wears a white bridal dress. What is
    the meaning or significance of this color? Do you think that in 2050 or even earlier, the
    same color will no longer be worn, and instead green, pink, yellow, red or even black
    colors? What do you think?

    Usually bride in marriage is wearing white gown It is an emblem of the purity and innocence of
    girlhood, and the unsullied heart she now yields to the chosen one. It is the culture and the belief
    that we follow. For me it is not bad if we change it because we can change that belief into a
    better perspective and we can make our own meaning and significance through that change. It is
    just a color. Color can’t dictate what is right and what is wrong, what is clean and what is dull. It
    depends how we interpret things around us.
