Explain tasks –
1. Students are to create a paper bag puppet of themselves. Show

students the one pre-made and use this to explain.
o First, they are to write down on the slips of paper
provided what qualities they want or already do have as
a good friend.
o Glue these onto the back of the puppet.
o Then they can decorate their puppet by drawing a
picture of themselves on the other side.
2. Why is being a good friend important?
o Students must explain using the puppet why being a

Ask students to write down 5 qualities they think a good friend should
have. Prompt students by suggesting they look at the board (brainstorm)
for ideas. Also refer to pre-made puppet throughout the explanation.
Explain that once they are done they must then glue the slips onto one
side of the puppet.
While students are completing this, walk around the room and ensure
students are staying on task.
Once completed gain students attention and explain the next step.
The students are to now draw themselves on the opposite side to the
qualities.
Once completed, students must come to the teacher or EA to be
recorded using their puppet to explain why being a good friend is
important.
Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)
Once activity is completed, gather student’s attention through attention

Choose two students whom completed their puppet and ask them to
share with the class what qualities they have as a friend (on the back of
their puppet).
Choose one student who would like to share their video and ask them to
show the class.
Re-emphasise the importance place on being a good friend. Ask the

students why.
- Because Jesus was a good friend and he asks us to love one
another.
Close in prayer – ask a student to pray for recess and what we just
learnt. Finish the prayer oneself by highlighting anything the student may
have missed.
Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)
Students are to now go out to recess.

Send each faction off one at a time to collect their lunch box and wash
5 min. their hands, then go outside.
