GUNHS CHRISTMAS CANTATA GUIDELINES
I. Cantata Singing Contest
1. 25-30 students of each grade level should participate
2. The students shall sing three selections, one contest piece and two choice piece
Contest Piece: Joy to the World
3. The students should perform in acapella
4. Each group will be given five (5) to seven (7) minutes to perform. 5. There will be a deduction of points in the final score for those who will exceed in more than seven (7) minutes and less than five (5) minutes, one (1) point for every minute.
CRITERIA
1. Voice Quality and Harmony (30 %)
Beauty of tone, good intonation and breath control; tone focus, resonance, clarity of tones and warmth of sound Unity and synchronization of voices, timbre sound match, balance of tones, stylistic voicing.
2. Song Interpretation (25 %)
Stylistically valid interpretation such as control and range of dynamics, phrasing, expression.
3. Choreography and Presentation (25 %)
Artistic interpretation and choreography projected through dance movement as it relates to the selected music.
4. Stage Presence / Costume / Attire (20%)
Voice Quality and Harmony 30 %
