    To Whom It May Concern:

    It is my pleasure to recommend Erica Savage for any elementary teaching position. Mrs. Savage was
    a student teacher in my fifth grade general education class at Monterey Ridge Elementary School
    within the Poway Unified School District from October 2018 until January 2019. As her master teacher,
    I have had the pleasure of working with Erica and observing her effective development of planning,
    preparation, lesson delivery, classroom management, and professional disposition.

    Through our professional interactions on a daily basis, I was continually impressed with the high
    standards by which she conducted all aspects of her daily interactions with the students, as well as with
    her peers on campus. Academically, Mrs. Savage planned and implemented standards based lessons
    and curricular resources to meet the needs of the variety of learners in our classroom. Her ideas not
    only addressed the California Standards, but also incorporated district supported online resources such
    as those accessed through MyPlan and MyConnect. Erica worked independently, as well as
    collaboratively with other educators, to create a variety of resources and lesson plans across subject
    areas that were utilized in our classroom. One such unit that was particularly impressive was a Science
    unit utilizing a school adopted program called Project Lead the Way. This particular unit afforded the
    students a hands-on opportunity to explore and learn about infectious diseases and the implications of
    everyday life. Mrs. Savage energetically and independently took on the responsibility of planning and
    teaching this unit to the 33 students of our general education classroom, as well as two students who
    mainstreamed from an NSH class, all while meeting the needs of the variety of learners. In addition to
    Mrs. Savage’s lesson plans that were planned, prepared, and delivered effectively, I was also
    continuously impressed with her classroom management skills. She had a positive rapport with each
    student in our class. Through her warm, gentle, and encouraging demeanor, it was apparent that each
    student felt loved and supported by Mrs. Savage on a daily basis. She had clear expectations and
    consequences that were respected and followed by each and every student. Erica’s goal oriented
    drive, as well as her energetic and loving personality has been apparent in all interactions that I have
    had the pleasure of experiencing and witnessing as her master teacher. It has been an honor and a
    privilege to have been part of her student teacher term, and I am confident that she would make a
    wonderful addition to any grade level team.
