To Whom It May Concern:

Stacie Vorhees served as a student teacher in my second grade classroom for 8 ½ months,
beginning in August 2018. During this time she had a positive attitude and was eager to educate
the 27 children that had been slowly released into her very capable hands. Stacie had much
enthusiasm and care for the students in our school. She dressed and acted as a professional.
She was prompt and prepared every day. Stacie had a strong desire to learn to become a better
teacher from every observation and experience in the classroom. She is an extremely
conscientious and reflective teacher. She is a kind, compassionate teacher who has a love for all
children.
During the course of the school year, I watched Stacie grow into the confident and
energetic teacher that she is today. She designed lessons that were differentiated in order to
reach the variety of learners in my classroom. Stacie was able to make accommodations and
modifications to meet the needs of every student. At the same time, she promoted higher level
thinking with the types of activities they completed. She excelled in implementing our district’s
math program, Investigations. She also became proficient in early literacy instruction; planned for
and implemented small reading groups each day; and flawlessly implemented our district’s reading
program, Literacy By Design. Stacie wrote well-developed lesson plans that aligned with the
Common Core and our district’s curriculum maps. She was able to use multiple teaching methods
that were age and developmentally appropriate and encouraged the students to take risks and
stretch their work. She incorporated technology in lessons including the SMARTboard. In addition
to planning, Stacie helped to design and implement assessments during this time. She helped to
collect data and evaluate the children’s progress toward mastery of their goals. She attended
several professional development meetings and workshops. She effectively collaborated with
other teachers and staff members for the betterment of the students. She also communicated well
with the parents of the students and attended meetings and conferences with parents. Stacie took
on and flourished in all the duties of a classroom teacher.
Differentiation and inclusion of students with disabilities is a strength for Stacie. She
succeeded in setting up a positive, student-centered community that welcomed and encouraged all
students to be active members of the classroom in the first weeks of school. I have a few students
who have Individual Education Plans and Stacie was extremely patient and compassionate with
these students. Stacie developed a strong rapport with all of the students. She dove right into to
our Positive Behavior Supports style of management and did an excellent job of balancing
classroom fun with learning goals and structure. Stacie promoted a positive, student-centered
community that was consistent, firm, and fair. She has the ability to get kids engaged and excited
about learning while maintaining a controlled environment. The children immediately grew to
admire, respect, and love their student teacher. My students will always remember Miss Vorhees
because she took the time to make each of them feel special and successful.
It is with great confidence that I highly recommend Stacie Vorhees for any early childhood
education teaching position. It was a genuine pleasure and honor to watch Stacie progress
through her student teaching experience and become the confident, capable teacher that she is
today. Any school would be fortunate to have such a wonderful person and outstanding new
teacher on their staff.
