Gas Conditioning System Specification Sheet: Process Information

The gas from a carbon reactor at 368°C needs to be cooled to 230-240°C before entering bag filters. A gas quencher will be designed to cool 199950 AM^3/hr of gas using process water supplied at 3.5 bar and ambient temperature of 50°C. The gas composition after the reactor will be CO2 4-8%, CO 11%, H2 11.5%, SO2 2-3% with the rest being N2. Steam at 11 bar will also be supplied to control the cooling. The quencher needs to reduce the gas temperature while keeping the bottom dry and will be made of 316L stainless steel including the nozzles.

The smoke from a carbon reactor will be passing thro the bagfilters to collect the carbon particles, which is the end
temperature will be 368 Deg c which the filterbags cannot handle. Hence we have to provide a quencher to reduce
to 230 deg c , max 240 deg C. The gas volume considered for Bagfilter design at 230 deg c is 160000 AM^3 /hr. The
as follows:

CO2 4 TO 8 %
CO 11 %
H2 11.5 %
SO2 2 TO 3 %
N2 BALANCE

The dust will be very fine in the form of smoke 190 - 400 Amstrong particle size.

The quencher will be designed for the gas volume at inlet 199950 AM^3 at 368 deg c. The temp is to be reduced by
spraying. The client will give process water at ambient temp of 50 deg c at the quencher water inlet at 3.5 bar. For a
from their process at 11 bar will be provided to us. We have to install solenoid operated water and steam control va
the required flow to achieve the desired gas outlet temperature.

Most important is that the bottom of the quencher should be dry.

MOC of quencher will be SS 316 L, including the nozzle.

There will be no pumps etc .

Hope with the above information you can come out with an optimum design for the quencher shell and the Nozzle.
