METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the discussion on the research methodology of the study, the

research design, participants of the study, locale of the study, sampling technique, data

gathering procedure, research instrument(s), data analysis and statistical treatment.

Research design

Quantitative Research Design is a process of inquiry examining and identified problem that

is based on testing a theory measured by numbers and analyzed with statistical techniques.

Also quantitative data is more efficient, It can be applied within shorter duration of time

compared to qualitative methods and it is easy to make comparisons of findings.

The researchers utilized a descriptive survey design in conducting the study. According to

Gay (1987) the descriptive survey is an attempt to collect data from members of population

worth respect to one or two variables and Babbie (1990) also recommended the descriptive

design for the purpose of generalizing from a sample to a population so that inferences can be

made about the characteristics, attributes or behavior of the population. Furthermore, the

researchers is designed to assess the factors affecting the on- the-job training of ABM

practicumers.
Participants of the study

The respondents of this study will be the ABM students of Far East Asia Pacific Institute of

Tourism Science and Technology comprising of 41 population, male and female. They were the

choosen students because they are the ones who are knowledgeable enough to answer the

study. They answered the questionnaires that the researchers gave them which provide the

information that the researchers need.

Locale of the study

The study was conducted at Far East Asia Pacific Institute of Tourism and Science

Technology Tanza, Cavite. This place was selected for knowing the participants was capable of

the said study among ABM students. This study helped researchers found out the factors that

affecting ojt practicumers on their on the job training. The conduct of the study on the

distribution of questionnaires and data collection was covered from November 2018 to

December 2018.

Sampling technique

Purposive sampling is also known as judgment, selective or subjective sampling. It is a

form of non-probability sampling in which researcher rely on their own judgment when

choosing members of population to participate in the study.

Researchers use purposive sampling because we want to access a particular group of

people which are the ABM students, as all participants of a study are selected because they fit a
particular profile and to focus on particular characteristics of a population that are of interest,

In this sampling method we need to have prior knowledge about the purpose of our studies so

that it’s easier to make generalizations. Only those properly choose and capable on attending

their on the job training will be included in this study.

Sample size determination

Sample size formula:

n= N
––––––
1+ Ne² where:

n= sample size

N= total number of population

e = margin of error

Our research aimed to conduct a questionnaire to the selected students at Far East Asia

Pacific Institute of Tourism Science and Technology Tanza, Cavite. Which is the Abm students

consisting of 41 population. We have 95% Confident and have 5% margin of error.

n= N
–––––––
1+ Ne²
Substituting the given data:

n= 41
–––––––––––––
1+ (41) ( 0.05)

n= 41
–––––––––––––
1+ (41) (0.0025)

n= 41
––––––––––––
1+ 0.1025

n= 41
––––––––––––
1.1025

n= 37.18 / 38.00

Computing for the given data with has 41 total number of population, having 95% of

confidence and 5% margin of error resulting 38 sample size.

Data gathering procedure

This study used both primary and secondary sources of data. Primary data which is

quantitative methods are based in mathematical calculations in various formats. Methods of

quantitative data collection and analysis include survey questionnaires. Secondary data is a

type of data that has already been published the data collected from books, newspapers,

magazines, journals, internet and any other related sources for this study.
The researchers personally provide the research instruments to the respondents. They

present and discussed the significance of the study and accomplished the distribution of the

questionnaires properly.

The respondents were given an enough time so that they will properly analyze the questions

and answered it correctly. The researchers went from one section to another on collecting the

accomplished questionnaires.

After the questionnaires have been accomplished. the results were tallied and tabulated.

These data became the basis of analysis and interpretation.

Research Instrument

The instrument used was a researcher-made survey questionnaire to gather the needed

data for the assessment and evaluation to determine the factors affecting the on-the-job

training of Abm students at Feapitsat Colleges.

In this way, the instrument is authorized to obtain valid and reliable responses of the

students. Preference for the use of the questionnaires is given on a several research

assumptions such as cost of being a least expensive means of gathering data, avoidance of

personal bias and less pressure for immediate response.

The research subjects were asked to choose their preferred response by checking on the

corresponding boxes. The questionnaire had a questions that relates to the study and these

questions were answered consequently.

Data Analysis

The researchers analyze the data that they collect employing the methods using quantitative data

analysis. It involves critical analysis and interpretation of figures and numbers, and attempts to find

rationale behind the emergence of main findings.

A survey questionnaire was used to seek information in order to assess the factor affecting the on-

the-job training of the students. After collecting all the data and information related to the subject in the

research, the researchers further make observations in the form of comments, opinions and suggestions

based on their experiences because It is one of the earliest methods for acquiring knowledge.

Statistical treatment

Responses to the questionnaire by ABM Senior high school students were statistically

analyzed with the data requirements of the study. The Descriptive survey method was used.

This method includes the used of questionnaire made by the researchers and it is used for the

main data gathering instrument for this study.

The responses made by socio-demographic profile, Factors that affect the On-the-Job

training and anticipated problems were presented. For instance, sex, age, work relationship,

OJT requirements, personal competency and problems encountered. This was also applied for

the ABM practicumers of Feapitsat-Tanza: an assessment. In providing overall picture of the

socio-demographic profile and the factors affect, summary presentations will also presented.
