Mitotic Pool: 1' Granules: Large Blue To Reddish-Purple Staining

There are 3 pools of bone marrow that produce white blood cells: the mitotic pool, maturation pool, and storage pool. Cells progress through different stages in each pool, starting as myeloblasts in the mitotic pool and maturing into segmented neutrophils, eosinophils, or basophils in the storage pool. A similar process occurs in the lymphocyte and monocyte series. Mature cells then circulate or marginate in the blood.
