a. ENRC-1-e-2.15: Use non-linear visuals as comprehensive aids in content text.
b. EN7755-1-e-1.2: Transcode orally and in writing the information presented in
diagram, charts, table and graphs.

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. scan for specific information;
b. use graphic organizer in presenting information;
c. express awareness of the increasing growth of population; and,
d. transcode information from non-linear to linear.

III. PROCEDURE:
A. PRE-READING
1. Activating Prior Knowledge
Directions: In your group, brainstorm about the population in your family and
report the number of member in the class.

B. DURING READING
Whole Class Activity
Directions: Go over the graph presented below to locate information that will
help you determine the population of the Philippines on the specific year.

Directions: The class will be divided into three groups. Present the
interpretation of the data using the following graphic organizer assigned to
your respective groups.
G1- PIE GRAPH of the population in Mindanao

-How many percent of the population in Mindanao are there in Region


CARAGA?
- How many percent of the population in Mindanao are there in Region IX?

G2- BAR GRAPH of the population in Visayas

- How many percent of the population in Visayas are there in Southern Leyte?
- How many percent of the population in Visayas are there in Biliran?

G3- LINE GRAPH of the population in Luzon

- In what year the population of Central Luzon decreased the most?


- In what year the population of Central Luzon increased the most?

Directions: Study the handout of search protocols that your teacher will give you.
Be guided by this as you research on the following: population rate and fertility
rate of the Philippines and three other Asian countries in the last five years.
Review your data and derive implications from them. Be ready to share your data
and list of implications with the class. Be ready to present it using a graphic
organizer.
