    Detailed Lesson Plan in Science and Health V

    I. Objectives

    At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:


     Identify the classification of animals;
     determine the food they eat and
     Classify animals according to the food they eat.

    II. Subject Matter


    Topic: Classification of Animals According to the Food they Eat
    Reference: MLC, Science and Health for better living
    Materials: Pictures, Visuals aids,
    Values: Cooperation

    III. Procedure

    A. Preparatory

    Greetings:
    Good afternoon class! Good afternoon teacher!
    Prayer:
    Class let us all stand Camille: Are you ready to pray
    Camille kindly lead the prayer. classmates?

    : Angel of God……….Amen.

    Class kindly pick up the pieces of : (The pupils obeyed the command)
    paper, candy wrappers under
    your chairs.

    You may now be seated.


    Jaz: None teacher!
    Jaz, do we have absentees for
    today?

    “Very good everyone is present”


    : ( clap, clap)
    Give yourself a good job clap.

    Review: : Yes teacher!


    Do you still remember our last
    lesson?
    : Food chain teacher!
    Okay what is it all about?
    : A food chain shows how each living
    Very good! thing gets food, and how nutrients and
    energy are passed from creature to

    B. Motivation

    Before we start, may I know if


    you have a pet at home? : Yes teacher! We have.

    What animal is your pet?

    Yes, King?
    :Dog, teacher!

    How about you Jane? : Winnie the Pooh!

    Iana how about you? : Cat teacher!

    Very good! Cat teacher!

    Each of you has their own pet or


    has their own favorite animal.

    I also have here my favorite


    animals and I will introduce them
    to you.
    Do you want to meet them? : Yes teacher!

    Are you all excited? : Yes teacher, yes teacher!

    *Teacher will show different animals


    and she will let them identify each
    animals.*

    Okay class what animal is this? Goat teacher!

    Very good!

    How about this one? Horse teacher!

    Correct!

    And this one? Girrafe teacher!

    Very good!

    Have you noticed anything about those They are all plant eaters teacher!
    animals?

    Correct! And that is our lesson for


    today!

    Our lesson for today is


    “CLASSIFICATION OF ANIMALS
    ACCORDING TO THE FOOD THEY
    EAT”
    Do you want to see more animals? Yes teacher!
    About what you have mentioned awhile
    ago, you are correct. Goat, Horse, and
    Giraffe are plant eaters and they are
    called HERBIVORES.

    C. Discussion

    There are 3 classifications of animals


    according to the food they eat.
    Herbivore, Carnivore and Omnivore.

    Herbivorous animals are the ones that


    eat PLANTS only.

    Carnivorous animals are the ones that


    eat other animals and;

    Omnivorous animals are the ones that


    eat both plants and animals.

    Other example of Herbivores are


    Rabbit, Deer, Sheep, and Kangaroo.

    The animals that are carnivores are


    Lion, Tiger, Cat and Dog.

    And the animals that eat both plants


    and animals are;
    Duck, Chicken, and Bear.
    Do you understand class? Yes teacher!
    D. Developmental Acitivites

    Again, what are the animals that eat Herbivores, teacher!


    plants only?

    How about the animals that eat other Carnivores, teacher!


    animals?

    And the animals that eat both plants Omnivores, teacher!

    Very good!

    Give yourself a good job clap, class!

    D. Genralization

    Let us see if you really understand the


    lesson.

    What are omnivores? These are the animals that eat both
    plants and other animals teacher!
    Very good!

    How about Herbivores? What are These are the animals that eat only
    those? plants teacher!

    Very good!
    And the last one, what are Carnivores? These are the animals that eat other
    animals teacher!
    Okay, very good!

    E. Application

    Now that you really understood the


    lesson, we will do an activity.

    I will group you into three (3), the first


    group will be the “Herbivores”, the
    second one will be the “Carnivores” and
    the third one will be the “Omnivores”,
    each group will list down herbivorous,
    carnivorous and omnivorous animals as
    many as you can and you will present it
    afterwards.

    Give atleast 5 example of animals that classify according to the food they eat
