The School Feeding Officer plays a key role on a day-to-day basis in ensuring effective
implementation of school feeding programme activities at school level. Key responsibilities
include:
Monitoring the delivery, daily usage of flour and proper storage of Mary’s Meals
supplies and equipment within the Malawi School Feeding Programme.
Assist MEL team and regional managers in collecting both quantitative and
qualitative data to report on project performance indicators.
Providing advice, training and encouragement to school head teachers and School
Feeding Patrons, Feeding committees, Traditional leaders, the volunteers and the
general community in order to promote effective support and sustainability of the
programme.
Ensuring that health and safety and child protection policies are communicated and
implemented at each feeding school and
Producing and compiling weekly, monthly and end of term reports to inform
programme direction.
Initiating, implementing and managing capacity building needs for the volunteers,
feeding committees, Head teachers and other local committees on the identified
school feeding issues, programme delivery and use of programme equipment.
Supporting the schools in proper sanitation and ensuring proper hygiene practices.
Supporting schools in tree planting and ensuring proper care of the trees through
formation and encouragement of clubs e.g Friends of Mary’s Meals club that can
take care of the planted trees and other associated activities.
Identifying and dealing with emerging issues as they arise at each school and
reporting the same to the Regional Manager.
Facilitating the delivery of school feeding programme supplies and equipment to the
schools
Ensuring that organization assets and equipment are taken care of.
Helping the school leadership in the management of stock and maintaining stock
records.
Taking an active role in ADC and VDC meetings so as to promote support for
school feeding programme.
Should have Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with at least a pass in
Mathematics.
Should have basic computer skills e.g. Microsoft word and excel.
I Economic Conditions
Salary will commensurate with the grade and scope of the post as laid out in the
contract of employment
