Rounding Off Numbers
Rules for Rounding – Off Numbers.
1. If the digit to be dropped is more than 5, add 1 to significant digit.
2. If the digit to be dropped is less than 5, leave the significant digit unchanged.
3. If the digit to be dropped is 5:
a) Add 1 to the significant digit if it is an odd number.
b) Leave the significant digit unchanged if it is an even number.
c) Add 1 to the significant digit if there is a digit (except 0) after 5.

Division of Decimals
In dividing numbers involving decimals, the general rule is to convert the divisor into a whole number. The
decimal point is moved to the right. Similarly, the decimal point of the dividend is also moved to the right as many
places as there are in the divisor. The decimal point in the quotient must be aligned vertically with the decimal point
of the dividend.
