Arlington EATS and the Town of Arlington will be delivering shelf-stable food to any
Arlington resident in need. To receive food:
The APS School Committee voted to cancel the April vacation. What that means for
your child is that the remote learning plan will continue next week, except that
tomorrow, Monday, April 20th, Patriot's Day, is a state holiday, which will be
observed.
Remote Learning Hours and Routines Will Resume Tuesday, the 21st.
Hello, Bishop Families ~ I had the pleasure of connecting with families this past
week. Conversations ranged from birthday wishes, teacher/staff appreciation, how to
connect to a teacher’s Google Classroom, accessing students’ Spyponders accounts,
general check-ins, and the status of Arlington Public Schools Remote Learning Plan
moving forward. I appreciate these conversations and look forward to more in the
weeks to come!
I understand that families are waiting for the APS to ramp up the Remote Learning
Plan as our school closure continues. You can expect a new, revised phase, if
Governor Baker extends this closure for the remainder of the year. I cannot speak to
the details of this new phase before it is negotiated with the Teacher’s Union and the
District. I will say, however, that teacher/class engagement will increase, with more
face time included. I will have a detailed update once a decision is made.
I also acknowledge that classrooms are having different experiences than others; this
is to be expected. No two classrooms or teachers are alike. Also, there is something to
be said about implementing a remote learning environment that gives ALL students
access to the general education curriculum. Considerations as such take time to
implement to ensure that all students are receiving a Free and Appropriate Public
school Education
If you have any concerns in regard to your child’s remote learning plan, please start
with your teacher. If you still have concerns or questions, please contact me; I’m here
for you.
Ms. Liner has begun the process of meeting with and planning weekly announcements
with our 5th grade Advisory Group.
These announcements will hold true to the daily announcements that are aired when
school is in session - Weather, birthdays, general updates, and jokes!
Ms. Liner and I will be holding Principal’s Office Hours, once a week, for an hour, in
the coming weeks of school closure.
We invite you to drop in via Google Meet, weekly, on Tuesdays from 12:00pm -
1:00pm. This will be a great way to connect with the Bishop administration. We are
here for you and would love to say hi!

BISHOP COMMUNITY CARD DRIVE - Bishop Community Outreach
Giving school age kids a way to help during a stressful situation or traumatic event
gives them a sense of control and provides reassurance. One way to do this safely
from home is to make greeting cards!
Senior citizens living alone or in assisted care facilities can’t have visitors during
quarantine. A card or drawing from a local child is a great way to lift their spirits. For
Bishop families wishing to contribute, I will leave a drop box at the front door of the
school. I will pick up cards, seal and date in ziplocs and deliver to local senior facilities.
In your cards, include words of encouragement, song lyrics, riddles, jokes, meaningful
quotes or drawings! Duplicates are fine! Cards can be signed with a first name or, “a
friendly neighbor”.
