    Pre-Assessment: This warm-up activity will help the students with opportunities to
    relate and connect previously learned mathematics concepts (radicals and perfect squares)
    to the new lesson, solving quadratic equation by extracting the square roots.
    This activity that students will perform is to find the square roots of some numbers.
    this lesson had been taken up by the students in their Grade 7 mathematics.

    1. List all the perfect square number from 1 to 400.

    2. Give examples of rational and irrational numbers.
    3. show some equations involving quadratic equation that can be extract by getting
    the square roots.

    4. Show the method of solving the quadratic equations x 2=k .
    5. Identify the quadratic equations by the following properties.
    1. If k > 0, then x 2=k has two real solutions or roots: ± √ k
    2. If k =0, then x 2=k has one real solution or root: x=0
    3. If k < 0, then x 2=k has no real solutions or roots.
    6. Give examples from the different properties of quadratic equations.
    a. Find the solutions of the equations x 2−16=0 by extracting square roots. Give
    the solution/s of the roots.
    b. Solve the equation t 2=0. Give the solution/s of the roots.
    c. Find the roots of the equation s2 +9=0. Give the solution/s of the roots.
    d. Find the solutions of the equation ( x−4 )2−25=0

    C. Generalization: (5 mins)
    Ask the students about the three properties of solutions or roots when they
    extracted quadratic equation. They have to differentiate the three properties or
    conditions.
