TenCate Geotube Concrete Mattresses
Installation Guide
TenCate Geotube® Concrete Mattress is a double fabric layer mattress forming product. The two layers of fabric are systematically
linked either by conjoined woven filter points or through connecting internal threads. The filled Concrete Mattress system has a few
different finished form and surface texture depending on the range, which includes:
• CFM: Flexible mattress (Figure 1a)
• CRM: Regular filter-point mattress (Figure 1b)
• CSM: Standard continuous mattress (Figure 1c)
• CCM: Crib hybrid mattress (Figure 1d)
The internal space created in between the two fabric layers is filled with micro-concrete to form a robust and durable Concrete
Mattress and used for erosion control in hydraulic environments (see Figure 2).

Installation
Some pre-installation planning is usually necessary; this may include estimation of panel sizes, as well as cutting and seaming of panels
to suit a site situation. Slope preparation, trenching and other profiling may be needed before the Concrete Mattress is laid out
according to the Engineer’s instructions.
When the Concrete Mattress is laid out in position, micro-concrete is injected into the internal space created in between the two fabric
layers (see Figure 3). The micro-concrete shall conform to the specifications provided by the Engineer and may be a site-prepared mix
or an off-site premix. Suitable concrete pump is used to deliver the micro-concrete. The filling of the Concrete Mattress is done by
compartments in a selective order sequence; it may be necessary to prepare for these compartments during the pre-installation
planning, taking into account layout, concrete batch size, filling rates, etc. (see Figure 4).
Any spillage of concrete slurry over the Concrete Mattress during filling shall be washed away before it is allowed to set to provide an
aesthetic finish. Figure 5 shows a completed Concrete Mattress revetment. Figure 6 shows an impounded Concrete Mattress lined
channel.
