without the help of computer systems, it has replaced mundane and repetitive task with
the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Furthermore, its capability to do
multitasking and performing complex calculations, managing huge inventories and
processing a large volume of data is proven to be game-changing for businesses
internationally. For instance, Majority of commercial activities are performed on the
computer system from banking to education and from manufacturing to hospitality.
- On the other hand, over usage and dependency on a computer has certain negative
influences on people and society. For example, various research has proved that computer
led automation makes human live sedentary, which makes them lazy and obese.

1. Discuss the role of Science and Technology in Philippine nation building
- What are science and technology? Science is the study of knowledge that can be made
into a system that depends on evaluative facts. Technology, on the other hand, is the
practical application of scientific knowledge. Science and technology are essential tools
in every sector of society. A nation lacking in science and technology will forever depend
on those who claim to be the custodians of scientific and technological knowledge, even
if such a country has crude oil. Furthermore, science and technology help in the area of
employment. The role of science and technology is to develop our country all over the
world and hold high regard for science and technology. This prioritization makes the
country Philippines competitive in innovation and self-sustaining development, allowing
the economy to lean on its production, making international trade an icing on its
economic cake. Research and development activities of the DOST has been at the
forefront of initiatives since they are meant to give the country new sources of income
and promote sustainable development. Key areas being targeted are health, energy and
emerging technologies, disaster risk reduction, and national integrated research agenda.

to capture the various attempts to steer emerging sciences and technologies. Management
can be understood as the traditions and institutions by which authority is exercised to
steer a phenomenon in a particular direction. The concept broadly refers to the insight
that, first of all, the state is not the only actor that exercises authority but that other actors
matter, like industry, civil society organizations, and the public. And secondly, the term
governance captures the view that policies and regulations matter and that other
mechanisms should be taken into account when aiming to understand how emerging
science and technology are steered.
