Reflection from prior lesson: Students have already had the introductory lesson to the game and
the skills needed to play. They will remember the general concept as soon as they see how the
gym is set up. This 5th grade class has played this game since they were in Kindergarten.

Lesson Objectives:
Cognitive Objectives: (The student(s) will….)
1. Enhance the understanding of stepping with the correct foot when throwing.
2. Be able to explain the rules of the game when asked.

1. Demonstrate the ability to step with the opposite foot while throwing.
2. Work together with teammates to get opposing team “out” and to throw and
gather dodge balls.

1. Work together with their classmates to develop a strategy to get the opponent
down.
2. Be able to make connections from other activities that they have previous skills
from.

1. Complete the warmup activities.

Materials Needed: Warmup materials- jump ropes


Activity Materials- dodge balls, cones, hurdles

Contextual Factors/ Learner Characteristics:


This class has roughly 25 students with more boys than girls. All of the students will be
able to fully
participate in a PE setting without any sort of modification.

The Lesson 
1. Introduction (include time allotment)  
Getting attention (5 minutes)

The students will enter the gym and grab a jump rope. They have assigned spots and will
know exactly where to go and to get started. The warmup includes 100 jump ropes, 25
jumping jacks, 10 bulldog twists, and 10 squat jumps.

Relating to past experience and/or knowledge (2.5 minutes)

“What do you do when you get hit with a ball?”


“What foot do you step with when throwing?”

Creating a need to know (2.5 minutes)

I will make sure that the students can demonstrate they know the general rules of the game
such as what to do. Understanding correct throwing form and running with spatial awareness.

2. Content Delivery (15 minutes) 

The students will be allowed to play the game and I will correct mistakes as they go.
    
3. Closure (5 minutes)
 Students will help clean up the dodgeballs
 Students will grab water bottles from the bleachers and head back to their assigned blue
dot on the floor.
 Students will line up and head back to the general classroom
