1) ED-LAB logic trainer
2) Banana plugs
Procedures
1) Instructor explaining about the type of logic circuits and the construction of logic
circuits.
2) Construct the combination logic circuits as listed in the lab worksheet on the ED-
LAB logic trainer by using the banana plug.
3) The unpair holes are connected to the ground terminal and the final output of the
logic gates must be connected to a bulb to produce visualize output.
4) After connecting the combination logic gates as diagram, ensure that the
connection is tight and secured before the power supply is turned on.
5) Turn on the power supply and run the combination logic gates in accordance with
the input in the truth table.
6) Observe the output result that shown on the bulb and record the result in the truth
table.
7) After that, ensure that all the bulb is turned off before the power supply are turned
off.
8) Repeat the procedures above for all the combination logic gates and record the
output in the truth table.
9) Remove all the banana plugs and carry out proper housekeeping as needed.

Discussion
Construction of combination logic gates on ED- LAB logic trainer is the application of
knowledge learnt and this provide us an image of how the combination logic gates work in
real life. We also learnt the different ways to construct the logic gates for various desired
outputs. By referring to the truth table, we can vary the input to get different result from the
logic gates. Next, by the same concepts, the connection of logic gates could be reconstruct to
get the similar outputs from different construction of logic gates.
From the results obtained from each combination logic, we managed to derive the equivalent
Boolean expression from analysing the outputs of each logic circuits and it is simplified by
applying Boolean Theorem to get the final Boolean expression. For example, in example
Figure 26, the combination logic gates are constructed by using 5 NAND gates and it give the
outputs that function as a XNOR gate, with the Boolean expression of Z= A ⊕ B. And for
example, the logic gates construction in Figure 9 and 10 are totally different but giving the
similar outputs.
The others experiment construction of logic gates from Figure 12 to Figure 27 are also being
construct and the results were compared with theoretical values that are estimated before the
experiment and the results are matched. Thus, it can be concluded that the results are
accurate.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the objectives of the experiment had been achieved. We have learnt how to
construct the logic circuits properly and operate the logic circuits in accordance with the truth
table provided. We also learnt how to analyse the truth table and thus determine the basic
gating function of the circuit are performing by deriving the Boolean expression. From the
experiment, we can conclude that logic gates operate by following Boolean Algebra. NOT
Gate, AND Gate and OR Gate are the three basic logic gates. The others combinational logic
gates are construct by using these three basic gates.
