Lecture 6

This document contains information about the EMCH361 course including: 1. The lecture topics that will coincide with the lab topics including basic concepts, report writing, data analysis, displacement and velocity measurement, circuits, strain measurements, and temperature measurements. 2. The lab sessions including the days, times and room locations. 3. The lab assignments and tentative schedule including the lab topics, dates, and report due dates for hardness testing, uncertainty propagation, electrical measurement, strain measurement, temperature measurement, and oral presentations. 4. Brief notes on behavior in the lab, turning in reports, and that lab reports should be individual though data can be shared in a group.

Behavior in the Lab
In the lab be aware of equipment safety and people working around you.
Equipment will be ready when you enter the lab. If you need additional
equipment, please let the lab instructor know this. If equipment breaks
down or does not function properly, please inform the lab instructor.
Report ANY injuries to the lab instructor immediately. Any unsafe or
deliberately harmful act can result in loss of grade and dismissal from
the lab.

Turning in Reports
Reports are due at times specified (not a lab instructor). Usually, lab
reports will be due one week after the lab and collected in class. If the
report is not handed in on time, it is late. Points are taken as follows:
Up to 24 hours from the due date, 10 %
24 to 48 hours from the due date, 20 %

Any kind of late reports cannot be accepted if the graded reports have
already been returned to the students.
Plagiarism on any assignment will result in a grade of zero on the
assignment.

6
Lab ……….

• Lab report is individual, though the lab data could

be “group”.

• Group data: at the end of the lab, write down the

names of a group ( who use the same data set for
lab report).

• Sign-up sheet
