The document is a worksheet about robotics that contains questions and answers about barcodes. It defines a barcode scanner as an electronic device that uses light and lenses to capture barcode information and link it to a host computer to automate data collection. It explains that barcodes help keep products organized in databases and universally recognized. As an example, it describes how supermarket barcode scanners at checkout reads product barcodes to log prices and print receipts.

1. What is bar code scanner?

A barcode scanner also known as a barcode reader—is an electronic device that decodes and
physically captures information contained in barcodes. It consists of the Light source, Lens, Photo
conductor, and Decoder components, which work together to collect the data contained in a printed
barcode. After capturing an image, barcode scanners link to a host computer to pass along the scanned
information. This automates the data collection process so organizations can reduce human error and
expedite tasks such as tracking inventory, managing assets, and monitoring point-of-sale transaction.
2. What is the purpose of the bar code?
The bar code keep products organize within databases and keep products universally recognized.
They’ve also become a sign of conformity in almost all forms of media. Barcodes are synonymous with
order, going back to their conception in 1932 when grocery stores were looking for a way to track
inventory. Today, they are ubiquitous and critical to most retail industries.
3. Can you give an example using the bar code? One picture and explain the use of it.

code is everywhere. A supermarket bar code scanner or
also called point of sale bar code scanner is used to read
and logs the price of a product. It can aslo print out the
details of the product or log information about that
product and it is called the receipt when we buy stuffs
from any store
