1.) A soft surface cone clutch must handle 1900 in-lb of torque at 1200 rpm. The large diameter of the
clutch is 14 in, and the included angle is 20º. The width of face is 3 in. Using a coefficient of friction 0.2,
determine a) the axial force required to engage the clutch. b) the normal unit pressure required when the
clutch is operating at capacity. Assume uniform pressure.
