● A country located in Southern Europe
● Capital: Rome
● Population: 60.36 million
● Currency: Euro

Religion In Italy
● The major religion in Italy is Roman
Catholicism
● Roman catholics and other Christians
make up 80% of the population, though
only ⅓ of those are practicing Catholics
● Muslim, agnostic and athiest make up
the other 20% of the population

Religion In United States
● 76-80% of Americans identify themselves as Catholics or Protestants
● 5% of the population identify as Non-christian religions such as Judaism,
Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.
● 15% of the population claims no religious affiliation
Language In Italy
● Around 93% of the population speaks Italian as a native language
● There are a number of dialects of the language including Sardinian, Friulian,
Neapolitan, Sicilian, and Ligurian
Language In United States
● English is the most commonly spoken language
● Following English, the most common languages are Spanish,
Chinese, French, Tagalog, and Vietnamese

differences between Italy’s system and your personal experience of school in the
US!

The United States Education System
Italian Cuisine
● Wine, cheese, and pasta are important parts of Italian meals
● Food is a big part of Italian life, family gatherings are often centered around
food
● Central Italy food consists more of spaghetti and pizza
● North Italy food consists more of fish, potatoes, pork, sausages, and cheeses
are most common
● South Italy food consists more of tomato dominate dishes as well as capers,
peppers, olives, olive oil, garlic, and ricotta cheese
