1-Operational Amplifier

The operational amplifier (op-amp) is a high-gain amplifier device with very high input impedance and very low output impedance. It can be used as an inverting amplifier, where the gain is equal to the negative ratio of the feedback resistor to the input resistor, or as a non-inverting amplifier, where the gain is equal to one plus the ratio of the feedback resistor to the input resistor. The document describes procedures to connect op-amp circuits in inverting and non-inverting configurations and measure the gain, phase shift, and frequency response, then analyze the results.

Operational amplifier
Introduction:
The operation amplifier is a device that has all the properties
required for dc amplification. The gain of the amplifier is far in excess of
that available using single transistor. The figure below shows the circuit
symbol for an operation amplifier (often abbreviated to ‘Op-amp’)

The operational amplifier (OP AMP) has high input impedance and
low output impedance. The gain of the amplifier is high if a proper
feedback circuit is connected to the amplifier. It can be used also as
impedance converter for matching.
The OP AMP can be used as an inverting and non-inverting amplifier; it
can be proved that the gain of an inverting amplifier will be:
Vo RF
G   
Vi R1

Where: RF is a feedback resister.

While the gain of a non-inverting amplifier equal:
Vo RF
G   1
Vi R1

Procedures:
1- Connect the circuit shown in fig. 1.
2- Measure the gain of the amplifier and the phase shift for:
RF=10KΩ, RIN=100Ω and for RF=10KΩ, RIN=1KΩ.
EXP (1)

3- With both values for RIN, measure the frequency response of the a

Fig.1.

4-Connect the circuit of fig.2.

5-Measure the gain of the amplifier and the phase shift for:
RF=9KΩ, R1=1KΩ.
6-Measure the frequency response of the amplifier circuit.

Fig.2.

Report:
1- From run 3 & 6, plot the frequency response of the amplifier.
2- Calculate the GBW product of the amplifier in all cases.
3- Explain how the amplifier has inverting and non-inverting
properties.
4- Comment on your results.
