Parts Function (2 pts. Each)


1. Sideline boundary Are lines on the side of the court which
marks where a player or the ball goes
out of bounds. If a player steps on any
part of the boundary lines or crosses
the sidelines and baselines in any way,
they are out of bounds. An inbounds
pass for the other team at the pot of the
infraction is the result of this turnover.
2. Center circle It is used to put the ball into play via
jump balls.
3. Restricted area It is a four-foot arc underneath the
basket under which players cannot
draw charges. It prevent the players
from hanging below the rim while
offensive players drive to the basket.
Also a defender must establish his
position outside of the area in order to
draw a charge.
4. Three points line It separates the two-point area from the
three-point line;any shot converted
beyond this line counts as three points.
If the shooting player steps on the line,
it is counted as two points.
5. Team bench boundary line These areas are provided for the
personnel of each team which includes
coaches, assistant coaches,
substitutes, excluded players and team
followers. Any other persons must be
at least 2m behind the team bench.
6. Basket It serves as a goals of each team. This
is where the players shoot the ball.
7. Backboard It used to assist or return the basketball
after a shot in a game of basketball.. It
is also designed to prevent shattering
when a player dunks.
8. Whistle All officials wear a whistle that is used
to stop play as a result of a foul or a
violation on the court.
9. Net It serves an important visual purpose in
the game. It make easier for the
players, officials and fans to tell when
the ball has passed through the rim.
10. Posts It serves as a backboard holder.
