In ancient period, the predictions were made with the help of constellations. It was
called Nakshtra jyotish. The Yogini Mahadasha is based on Constellations; there are
twenty-seven constellations. It is generally used to find out the answers of day-to-day
life’s questions. It is same as Vishontari Mahadasha. In Vishontari, we calculate the
dasha period with the help of ruling planets. Nevertheless, in yogini, we are not in
need of planets. However, it is calculated with the help of constellation at the time
birth. Therefore, properties of ruling planets are not taken in to the consideration. Here
our aim is not to compare yogini Mahadasha and Vishotari Mahadasha.
Yogini mahadasha starts from Ashvini to Revati. These Mahadasha are eight in
numbers and their period is in ascending order, starts from one to eight years. Dasha
period means the period of that planet occurs in our lifetime. It is true that, we can
guess some incidents with the help of Janama kundali or Hora, Dreshkan, Bhansh, etc
of our life but the period is very important, it plays vital role.., Mahadasha is good
alternative among several alternatives.

Vimshottri Mahadasha is the period assumed for planets. The total period is one
hundred and twenty years. It gives us general idea of aspects and precepts of life in
that particular period of planet. In other words, we may say that, this mahadasha helps
us to know how that particular planet will effect or affect our life. With the help of
mahadasha, we can conclude the nature of particular period, either good or bad, either
prosperous or not. Every period (dasha period) has its own properties, depends upon
the properties of planet and position of planet in the horoscope. You know that each
period cannot be good or bad. (Alternatively, not every period is good for everything)

PART – II TRANSIT
Concept of Vedha is another technique used in determining the transit results. Vedha
means an affliction, pain or grief. We come across the term Vedha in the Hindu
concept of Eclipse. This concept of Vedha (affliction) is also used in astrological
studies especially in case of planetary transits. When a planet produces good results
from certain positions from the natal Moon, if at the same time some other planet
occupies certain other positions from the natal Moon the good results gets nullified
during the period of the transiting planet causing affliction. This is known as Vedha.
For example, Saturn transiting 3rd house reckoned from Moon sign gives good results,
whereas if at the same time some other planet moves through the 12th house from
Moon sign it becomes Vedha that obstructs the good results being given by Saturn.
Similarly in converse proportion when a planet gives bad results from certain
positions from the natal Moon, if at the same time some other planet occupies certain
other positions from the natal Moon the bad results get reduced during the period of
the transiting planet causing affliction. This is called as Vipareetha Vedha. For
example if Saturn is transiting through 12th house from the natal Moon, it produces
adverse results. If at the same time some other planet moves through the 3rd house
from Moon sign it becomes Vipareetha Vedha and the adverse results get cancelled
during the period of the transiting planet causing affliction. Exceptions to this Vedha
and Vipareetha Vedha are presence of Saturn for Sun and vice-versa, and presence of
Mercury for Moon and vice-versa.
NAKSHATRA ANGA PHALA : The Planet travel through twenty seven stars during
their journey in all the 12 Rasis. Different limbs of the body have been assigned to the
stars. Therefore when planets benefic or malefic pass through the Nakshatras, one or
the other part of the body gets affected. This is known as Nakshatra Anga phala.
Double transit
With this understanding, it becomes possible to see that when Jupiter and Saturn
both aspect a sign by transit it becomes a significant event. That sign becomes
strongly activated by both the expansive influence of Jupiter and the actualizing
influence of Saturn. The otherwise potentially limiting and challenging qualities of
Saturn’s transit become wise and more beneficial under Jupiter’s influence. While the
potentially unrealistic and ungrounded qualities of Jupiter’s transit become more
practical and focused under Saturn’s influence. Together they can indicate
achievement, breakthroughs, and progress regarding the areas of life that are
signified by the house(s) that they’re both aspecting by transit.
It’s very helpful to get into the habit of looking for which house(s) Saturn and Jupiter
are both aspecting by transits at any given time. Oddly, many astrologers overlook
this simple method and can miss valuable insights into where the individual needs to
focus his or her energy during that time period.
It must be noted that while this can sound reliable and promising, in Vedic astrology
the yogas (combinations of planets) and dashas (predictive systems) need to be
considered. If we rely only on transits to produce results, even the double transit, we
may be disappointed. If the progress and achievements that the double transit
indicates don't have the support of the yogas and dashas they will not come to full
fruition. It may, however, indicate an area of focus in a person's life. For this reason,
it's helpful to follow the double transits even without knowledge of the yogas and
dashas.
How do we know where Jupiter and Saturn are aspecting by their transits?
aspects are very different in Vedic astrology than Western astrology. Every planet
aspects both the house it’s located in and the 7th house from itself – 1st and 7th
aspects. In addition, there are special aspects for Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. Jupiter
also aspects the 5th and 9th; Saturn also aspects the 3rd and 10th; and Mars also
aspects the 4th and the 8th houses. So both Jupiter and Saturn will aspect a total of
4 houses including the one they’re placed in. The overlapping house(s) represents
the double transit.
The Moon is in 1st, 6th and 11th sign reckoned from the natal Moon at the time of
entry of a planet into a new sign it is known as Swarna Moorthi. If the Moon is in
2nd, 5th, and 9th from the natal Moon it is Rajatha Moorthi. If the Moon is in 3rd,
7th, and 10th sign from the natal Moon it is known as Thamra Moorthi and if it is in
4th, 8th and 12th from the natal Moon it is known as Loha Moorthi.
As Swarna Moorthi, benefic planets produce good results whereas, malefic planets
produce adverse results. On the contrary as Loha Moorthi, benefic planets produce
bad results whereas, malefic planets give average results. Generally benefic planets
produce average to good results as Rajatha and Thamra Moorthi whereas malefic
planets produce favourable results as Rajatha and Thamra moorthy.
Lattas
Astrologers practicing Parashari method have two main tools for ‘Timing an Event’,
namely, Dasha & Bhukti and Transit predictions. The irony is that Dasha & Bhukti
can be used independently, whereas Transit has to be read in conjunction with Dasha
& Bhukti. To be precise, the result obtained by Transit has to be supported by the
results of Dasha & Bhukti otherwise Transit results may not happen.
Latta is a part of Transit predictions and as such it has to be read in conjunction with
the prevailing Dasha & Bhukti of the native.
This word Latta means ‘Kick’ or Obstruction. During transit, a planet transiting a
particular Nakshatra will afflict another Nakshatra at a distance. If the afflicted
Nakshatra happens to be your Janma Nakshatra, you are said to be under the influence
of Latta of that particular planet. This distance is measured either forward or backward
from that particular Nakshatra. The forward measurement is called “Purolatta” or
Forward kick and backward measurement is called “Prustolatta” or Backward kick.
Effects
2. If the Natal star comes under the Latta effects of two or more planets, bad
effects will be greatly enhanced.
3. Sun’s Latta causes loss of entire effects of the native, trouble from Government
and trouble for father.
9. Saturn same as that of Sun, trouble from elder brother and body discomfort.
