A talented family

Mt Juliet, Tennessee. The band members are Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew Followill.

The band is quite unusual because they all have the same family name. This is because
Caleb, Nathan and Jared are all brothers and Matthew is their cousin. The band is named
after the brothers’ father and Matthew’s uncle, who is called Leon. Bass guitarist, Jared, is
the youngest member of the group and when they formed the band, he couldn’t play the
guitar! Kings of Leon recorded their first song in 2003 and released their first album, Youth
and Young Manhood, the same year. At first, they were more popular in the UK and other
European countries than they were in the United States. They played at the Glastonbury
Festival, in England, in 2008. Their first hit album in the US was released in 2008. It was
called Only By the Night and one of the songs from the album went to number one in the US.
In 2009, Kings of Leon released their first DVD. It was a recording of a live concert and was
called Live at the O2, London, England. In 2010, Kings of Leon won Grammy awards for
record of the year for their fifth album Come Around Sundown and for best rock song for Use
Somebody. Since the release of their last album, the band have continued to tour and have
played live concerts in the US and in different European countries.
