II. Choose 3 questions on the Pandemic Situation and write extensively, supporting your opinion at
least with 2 arguments. Give facts, details and examples as well.
Evaluation: ONE plus for the 3 answers.

1.What do you think will be the short term implications of the pandemic and the school closures?
2.How will society be different post pandemic? Why?
3.How is this virus different from the flu? Why does that matter?
4.What is the social impact on you of school closures? What is positive and what is negative?
5.Is the governmental response that you are seeing adequate? What would you do differently if you were the
mayor, governor or president?

QUESTION …2….(write the number)

The state of society after the pandemic very much depends on its destruction level. For the time being I think
people will definitely get more suspicious of one another and be more careful with hygiene. Also the economy
will decrease. In case the Level of deaths will be similar to one in Italy, the impact on the society will inevitably
be larger. People will be much more devastated, maybe even more united and serious about this problem. And
in the worst case there will no longer be such thing as society and the survivors will be living in an apocalyptic
world. But I am sure that won’t happen.
QUESTION …4….(write the number)

The social impact for me is that I am not seeing my friends (obviously) in addition, my parents decided that it
would be best for me and my brother to stay out of town, so it affected my life pretty drastically. But do far I
can only see good outcome of it. I like to be around people, but I respect my personal space too. When all this
quarantine situation happened and everybody is locked down I finally found piece for myself that mas really
missing. Also in past days I realized that I am learning much more when I’m be in my own space managing my
own time than in school, where it is extremely hard to concentrate. So far it has been like a holiday for me.

QUESTION …….(write the number)

I am not a politics enthusiast, but in my humble opinion, the reaction of government was adequate. The time of
reaction was fast so I think the spread of virus was significantly decreased. Although I am a little bit mad on the
government, because they didn’t see it coming. The news about this virus was all over the place since January
and if I was a politician I would have made sure that there is enough protection for doctors. Another thing that
came to my mind is that I would prepare extreme situation scenarios and what should everybody do when they
happen. What I mean by that is that when this pandemic hit the world, nobody was prepared, but what if
somebody would have had prepared a plan for what should happen in country, what people should do, how will
the economy be taken care on and so on, the government wouldn’t have to spend time panicking and thinking
of ways to deal with problem when it has already occurred. In other words, I would prepare plans to get ready
for this type of situation.

III. Insert the photo of your Mind map on these 3 questions. Evaluation ONE plus.
IV. Using your Mind map, speak for 3-4 min., to your friend on Skype or video call on Facebook
Messenger. Ask your friend to evaluate your fluency (5 points) and linking (5 points).
ONE plus. Be honest 
I spoke with Ūla, she gave me 9 points.

ALTERNATIVE TASK if problems with the Internet arise:

Academic word list https://www.examenglish.com/vocabulary/academic_wordlist.html

In this section you can do practice tests for all groups of the academic word list.
The Academic Word List (AWL) was developed by Averil Coxhead at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language
Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
 The list contains 570 word families which were selected because they appear with great frequency in a broad
range of academic texts.
 The AWL was primarily made so that it could be used by teachers as part of a programme preparing learners for
tertiary level study or used by students working alone to learn the words most needed to study at colleges
and universities.
 The 570 words are divided into 10 Groups. The Groups are ordered such that the words in the first Group
are the most frequent words and those in the last Group are the least frequent.
