Learning Outcome
Pre-test
Enabler – the worker who makes change possible by supplying the client with
the means, the knowledge or the opportunity to be or to do something.
Facilitator – the person who helps remove the obstacles to the exercise of
rational thinking or learning by the use of non-formal adult teaching and
learning methodologist and strategies.
Motivator – motivates members to learn new vocational and social skills and
to move on to new activity.
Initiator – initiating acting as broker between groups, the client community and
outside resources
Broker – the worker who seeks and secures resources that the client needs
or matches the client with the resources.
Intervenor – intervening for and on behalf of the people for their participation
and involvement in the formulation of social welfare programs, services &
projects intended to benefit or affect them or when their interest and welfare
are in jeopardy
Planner - sits as planner for the social welfare/ social services sector in planning
bodies as the barangay, municipal, provincial, regional and national development
councils
Functions
As gleaned from our practice, these are the functions of a social group worker:
1.) development of appropriate program media for various types of groups;
2.) establishment of standards for social group work services and eligibility
requirements;
5.) evaluating the results of the program against goals and objectives

The following skill are required of a social group worker according to Trecker. 6
and 7 were added as needed by our social group workers for groups in
Philippine setting.
ability to judge the development level of the group, what the group
needs and how quickly the group is expected to move;
ability to control his/her own feelings about the group and able to
study each new situation with a high degree of objectivity
