ABSTRACT

In today’s generation, it is hard to invent instant things in our life and it is very crucial

to understand the importance of inventions or proposals that will surely benefit the

society. Thus, this study aims to understand the importance of natural product and the

significance of the manual process in order to come up with the natural product as an

alternative solution for daily home consumption. However, it is made to be mindful in

terms of decision making on what we are going to choose over basic and not.

This investigatory project provides a study to determine the advantages,

disadvantages, and impact of using natural product named Tubang Aso Leaves Extract

as an Alternative Toilet Cleanser.

The findings of this study indicate the good impact of natural product and its benefit

in all facets of life; especially now that we are in the midst of global crisis brought by

COVID-19 pandemic.
INTRODUCTION

Large amount of germs is mostly founded in toilet house, particularly toilets in

public establishments. Billions of microorganisms surrounded us that cannot be seen by

human’s eye and it can cause several illnesses. To prevent these, the product

antimicrobial toilet cleanser can help to kill and stop microbes to grow. Toilet bowl

cleaner is an effective acid-based stain remover that can remove soil, rust, and slime

from tiles, urinals, grouts, and toilet bowls. Tubang aso is a smooth, glamorous, erect,

branched shrub 2 to 5 meters high. Branches are stout, cylindric, and green. Leaves are

entire, orbicular-ovate, angular or somewhat 3- to 5-lobed, 10 to 18 centimeters long,

culminate with a chordate base. Petioles are long. In this study, with the help of

antimicrobial, tubang aso can be used as an agent that kills microorganisms and stops

their growth. It can be classified as disinfectant that kill a wide range of microbes on non-

living surfaces to prevent the spread of illness. Hence, this study was conducted to

identify the presence of natural antimicrobial compounds in Tubang Aso Leaf Extract.

The product toilet cleanser will use as an antimicrobial. According to the tests at the

University of Arizona by Kristen Buckles, ET. Al (2015), revealed that 62 percent of

bathroom floors were contaminated with potentially dangerous bacteria and 19 percent

of toilet bowls. Nonetheless, toilet bowls can contain some nasty bacteria. It means, it is

true that there are many nasty bacteria that can affect humans by having diseases.

Toilet cleanser is one of the good product that can help to have a safe and clean

bathroom especially in public establishment that many people used.

This purpose of this study is to understand the importance of natural product and

the significance of the manual process in order to come up with the natural product as

an alternative solution for daily home consumption.

PROCEDURES

Production of Tubang Aso Leaves Extract. The researcher were collected

Tubang Aso Leaves in the backyard. To make sure that the leaves are clean, it was

washed carefully and placed at an open area in preparing for drying. After that, the

researcher boiled 1 liter of distilled water in preparation for extraction. For the extraction,

the researcher used the maceration method which involved soaking of the plant in the

stoppered container with a solvent like water and allowed to stand at room temperature

for at least 3-5 days. After 3-5 days, the mixture is pressed or strain by filtration to get

the Tubang Aso Leaf Extract and placed it in the container.

Antimicrobial Activity test. The amount yield of Tubang Aso leaves extract was

measured in terms of milliliters. Three (3) sets was made; agar with 50 milliliters of

tubang aso leaf extract, agar with 50 milliliters of commercial toilet cleanser and agar

without tubang aso leaf extract and commercial toilet cleanser. The production of agar

was made by having tubang aso leaf extract that was mixed carefully into the plain agar

and distilled water in a pot, the same with commercial toilet cleanser. The mixture was
heated until it become sticky. Then the agar was transfer to the test tubes in preparation

for antimicrobial activity test. With the use of cotton buds, it was used to transfer

microbes from bowl to the agar plates by the help of swabbing. It had undergone a week

of observation of control microbes. To get the final result of the research project, it had

undergone by two (2) repeated experimentation.

Production of toilet cleanser. Toilet cleanser was made by having mixture of

50 ml of tubang aso leaf extract, ½ cup of white vinegar, 5 ml of lemon juice, and ½ cup

of baking soda. With these natural ingredients, it is used to formulate alternative toilet

cleanser. Cleaning property was tested by putting toilet cleanser to the bowl and will be

observed.

Testing the effectiveness of Tubang Aso Leaves Extract. Comparative

analysis was done by using Tubang Aso leaf extract as toilet cleanser and commercial

toilet cleanser in terms of Antimicrobial property, cleansing property, odor, cost, and

expiration.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary, conclusion and recommendations of the study

based on the data analyzed in the previous chapter.

SUMMARY

The focus of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Tubang Aso Leaves

Extract as Toilet Cleanser. This presents the significant difference between Tubang Aso

Leaf Extract Toilet Cleanser and Commercial Toilet Cleanser. It was tested in terms of

having an antimicrobial activity test in which it has undergone one (1) week of

observation and two (2) repeated experimentation, observation of its cleansing property,

computed all the expenses in making toilet cleanser, the odor, and its length of

effectivity.

Within two (2) trials of experimentation, there were no growing microorganism in the

surface of agar in test tube that is why the researchers concluded that it has no

antimicrobial property, cleansing property and length of effectivity. In terms of odor,

among the five (5) respondents, two (2) of them Liked the odor and three of them were

not. In the cost, Tubang Aso Leaf Extract Toilet Cleanser is costly than Commercial

Toilet Cleanser.

CONCLUSION

In the light of the findings, the following conclusions are hereby established:

1. The Tubang Aso Leaf Extract can’t be an effective antimicrobial solution because

according to the data gathered, there were no growing microorganisms in the

agar. The researcher concluded that the main factor why it was failed is because

of temperature and lack of resources.

2. The Tubang Aso Leaves Extract doesn’t have an antimicrobial property because

of no growing microorganisms based on observations.

3. The effectiveness of Tubang Aso leaves extract affected and deemed

unsuccessful due to changing temperature, lack of resource and it was supposed

to place in an incubator to have a better result, have some unknown bacteria and

the insufficiencies of trials and observation.

4. Tubang Aso Leaves Extract don’t have enough cleansing property because it is

not sticky and without an antimicrobial property

5. The Tubang Aso Leaves Extract will not be acceptable for consumer because

Tubang Aso Leaves Extract Toilet Cleanser is costly compared to the

Commercial Toilet Cleanser.

After analyzing all the data and information, the proponent therefore conclude that

the Tubang Aso Leaf Extract couldn’t be an Antimicrobial Toilet Cleanser.
