1. WHY IS HISTORY IMPORTANT?

- History allows one to gain a deeper view of the environment.

You cannot construct a structure on which to base your life without learning how things
function in the universe. History paints us a detailed view of how culture, technology, and
government worked a long time ago, so that we can better understand how it works today. It
also lets us decide how to handle the future, as it encourages us to benefit from our previous
failures (and triumphs) as a society. It goes without mentioning that transition will be difficult
to grasp. And of us has varying encounters with the rest of the world – interactions formed
by social expectations, cultural differences, personal interests, and more.

We know when, as people, we want change and why. History allows one to better
understand how, where and why progress is taking place (or should be sought) on a broader
scale. "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." These words were first
spoken by George Santayana, and they are still very important today because of how real they
are. History gives us a chance to learn about previous failures. It allows one to consider the
many explanations that people can act in the manner they do. As a result, it allows them to
become more humane as individuals and more neutral as decision-makers. Our justice
structure is a prime example of the principle at work. And overall history give us a new
appreciation for just about everything.

2. WHAT LESSONS CAN WE LEARN ABOUT HISTORY?

- There are plenty of reason to study history as there are plenty of lessons to it as well, but to
name a few these are;
The Past will serve to give us a sense of belonging. In fact, this is one of the key reasons
why history is still taught in schools around the world. Historians have been able to study how
nations, communities, and groups have been created, and how they have changed and grown
over time. When a person takes it upon himself to delve deep into the past of his or her own
heritage, he or she can understand how his or her family dealt with broader historical shifts.
Does your ancestors fight in big wars? Have they been there at big events?
Also you will test your own beliefs and values by looking at real accounts about people
and circumstances. You may compare that to certain true and tough circumstances that
people have had to encounter in challenging times. Looking at people who have experienced
and conquered challenges can be motivating. Learn from the experience and note the signs
of clear alert even if just from a recent past that history guides us to make better decisions
Understanding historical incidents and how they affect the world today will bring
compassion and understanding to communities of individuals whose history might be
different from the norm. You can also recognize the pain, excitement, and uncertainty that
have been required for this to happen, and appreciate all that you will gain from previous
efforts today.
We benefit from historical atrocities against groups of people; massacres, battles, and
threats. Through this mutual trauma, we have learnt to pay heed to the warning signs that
contribute to such massacres. Society has been willing to take these alarm signs and fight

these particular conflicts are allowing us to further shape our future.
