Ensure the batteries are fully charged available at pump room
Check and ensure Diesel engine filled with required oil and coolant
Pump suction will be filled with clean water from the tank and completely vented of air
prior to starting
Check the all fire pump Control panel installed and bolted properly
Check incoming cabling completed for all fire pump controller
Check outgoing cabling completed for all fire pump controller
Check the all cables are terminated properly to the control panel/engine and motor
side
Check earth wires are connected properly Control panel and motor side
Check and ensure battery cables available at site
Check and ensure that all electrical works related to fire pumps and controllers are
completed and approved by consultant
Ensure pump controllers has electrical power supply and isolators are in off position
Check and ensure the power availability and live test completion for the cables
Check and correct rotation and control functions with all electrical and running
condition monitored and recorded
Close system valve and open the suction and discharge valves
Purge air from the pump through the air release valve mounted on pump.
Check the voltage for incoming power supply
Switch ON main isolator switch for the control panel
Kick start the pump by turn the selector switch into manual Mode
Check the rotation of the pump. (If the rotation is incorrect, switch of the controller and
interchange the outgoing cables)
Check the current by using a clamp meter
Check the discharge pressure
Turn off the pump by turn the selector switch in off Mode
Set the cut in pressure and cut off pressure in the controller (As per approved
Sequence of Operation)
Keep the selector switch in auto mode
Simulate pressure drop in the system by opening the drain line of the sensing line
Check Pump is started at CUT IN point and once the pressure has reached to above
the CUT OUT point the pump should stop automatically
Check for any leakage through mechanical seal
Close the sensing line drain, pump operation should revert to normal
Close the discharge valve and partially open the test line valve
Place the isolator and breaker to “ON” position and check “POWER ON” light is
illuminated in the panel
Kick start the pump by pushing the manual start button
Check the rotation of the pump. (If the rotation is incorrect, switch off the controller and
interchange the outgoing cables)
Check the current and voltage during electric pump operation
Check shut of pressure of the fire pump and ensure the same is reaching as per the
pump name plate
Adjust the Casing pressure relief valve and ensure free drain to the pit
Check the pump packing glands to ensure proper tightness and adequate lubrication
Ensure Stuffing box drain free in to the pit
Verify operation of all supervisory signals (i.e., pump running, phase available, etc.).
Stop pump by pressing manual stop button
Set the cut-in pressure and cut-off pressure (As per approved Sequence of Operation)
Simulate pressure drop in the system by opening the drain line of the sensing line
Check Pump is started at CUT IN point and once the pressure has reached to above
the CUTOUT point and after time Delay (10 Minute) pump should stop automatically
Close the sensing line drain, pump operation should revert to normal
Switch off the control panel for preparing the flow test
Place the isolator and breaker to “ON” position and check “POWER ON” light is
illuminated in the panel
Start the electrical pump by releasing the pressure or through manual start push
button
Gradually open the Gate valve after the flow meter and check the flow

other parameters like RPM, Oil pressure and water temperature is matching with the
factory test results
Close the gate valve for the test line after the flow meter
Switch off the controller
Switch ON the Jockey pump controller and keep the selector switch AUTO mode Simulate
pressure drop in the system by opening the drain line installed in the sensing line. Jockey
pump to start when the pressure reaches to the cut in pressure, and pump will run till
reach to the cut-out pressure, the pump will STOP automatically. Close the drain valve
10.2 Manual operation demonstration of jockey pump
Switch ON the Jockey pump controller and keep the selector switch HAND mode Jockey
pump will start directly. To Switch OFF Jockey pump need to keep the selector switch in
to OFF Mode Note – Hand mode jockey will never stop automatically also jockey pump
will run at maximum pressure
10.3 Automatic operation demonstration of Electric Driven pump
Pressurize the system and Switch ON the Electric pump controller (Controller will be
AUTO mode) - simulate pressure drop in the system by opening the drain line installed in
the sensing line, Continue pressure drop until the duty pump Cut in pressure, Once the
pressure has reached the Cut in pressure, the pump start run, once pressure reached to
Cut out pressure pump will run for 10 Minutes after the time delay goes OFF
automatically. Close the drain valve

Pressurize the system and Switch ON the Electric pump controller. Press the MANUAL
start push button and pump will start directly. Press the MANUAL STOP push button to
make the pump OFF Mode. Manual operation Electric pump will never stop automatically
also Electric pump will run at maximum pressure
Connect the Battery and switch ON the control panel and Keep the Diesel Pump selector
switch in AUTO mode, simulate pressure drop in the system by opening the drain line
installed in the sensing line. Continue further pressure drop until the diesel pump Cut in
pressure once pressure has reached to Cut in pressure diesel pump start and maintain
the pressure. Close the drain valve and switch off the diesel pump MANUALLY.by
pressing the MANUAL STOP push button or keep the selector SWITCH OFF Mode
