Very good. The vow of marriage has been

the same in the past until the present. The
language has a pattern or cannot be
changed. So that the communicative style
is Frozen.

Let’s proceed to the second situation.

two?

How do you know that they are so?

“Because of their close relationship,
Ma’am.”

That’s amazing. Very Good! (other students will answer)

So now, we’re going to define the

different types of communicative styles.

The five communicative styles are

Frozen, Formal, Consultative, Casual and
Intimate.
So first let’s define the Frozen.
FROZEN COMMUNICATIVE STYLE is
also known as fixed speech. The style of
communication is rarely or never changes.
It is the most formal communicative style
that is often used in respectful situation or
formal ceremony. Like for examples are
Wedding Vows, Prayer, the Preamble of
the Constitution and etc.

Next is the Formal.

FORMAL COMMUNICATIVE STYLE is
the language used in formal settings and
is one-way in nature. This use of language
is usually follows a commonly accepted
format. Examples: Sermons, Speeches,
Announcements and etc.

And then the next is Consultative.

CONSULTATIVE COMUNICATIVE
STYLE is a formal and societal
expectations accompany the users of this
speech. It is a professional discourse.
Examples are Doctor and patient, teacher
and student, counselor and client and etc.

Next is the Casual.

CASUAL COMMUNICATIVE STYLE is
an informal language used by peers and
friends. Slang, vulgarities and
colloquialism are normal. Examples:
buddies, chats and emails, letters to friend
and etc.
And last is the Intimate.
INTIMATE COMMUNICATIVE STYLE is
a style that communication is private. It is
reserved for closed family members, or
intimate people. Example: husband and
wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, parent and
siblings

The purpose of the different types of

communicative style is to help people
know the specific approach they should
use in every situation, person and place.

3. Abstraction

If the first situation has the language which

is patterned and it is frozen or cannot be “Frozen Style, Ma’am.”
changed. What do you think is the
communicative style used in the excerpt?

If the second situation showed a formal

used of a language, so how do you call the “Formal communicative style, Ma’am.”
communicative style employed in the
second utterances?

If the third situation showed a scenario of

a patient consulting to a doctor, so what “Ma’am it is Consultative communicative
communicative style is employed in the style.”
dialogue?

If the fourth situation showed two friends

having a casual conversation, what style is “Casual Communicative style, Ma’am.”
employed?

If the fifth situation showed intimacy in their

conversation, what do you think is the “Intimate communicative style, Ma’am.”
communicative style used in the excerpt?

What are again the five types of speech “Ma’am the five types of communicative
styles? styles are Frozen, Formal, Consultative,
(Will call students to recite) Casual and Intimate.”

How does each style differ?

Perfect. Why should we vary our language (students will answer based on what they
styles? have learned)
