K-Frac Fracturing Stimulation Valve

The Logan Kline Tools’ K-Frac Fracturing Stimulation Valve is strategically placed
in the fracturing liner and is opened by pumping a predetermined size ball on a seat
for zonal stimulation and isolation.

Full Bore Inside Diameter

Once the balls and ball seats have been removed, a full bore ID remains that enables
full gauge access into the liner to enable remedial or re-stimulation applications with
conventional tools.

Seat Design
The seat design has been designed to allow more stages per size. The seat is made
from a reengineered drillable material that has improved erosion and drillable char-
acteristics.

Selective Re-fracturing
With the balls and ball seats removed and the full ID regained, the Logan Kline
Tools’ Straddle Packer Frac Tool can be run on either coiled tubing or threaded pipe
to perform selective fracture treatments.

K-Frac Running Tool

The K-Frac Running Tool (KFRT) is the uppermost component of the K-Frac
Fracturing Liner System. The KFRT functions as an installation and disconnect
device during the liner run-in and functions as a re-entry device throughout the well
life.

Simple Design
The KFRT is composed of two robust components: the KFRT seal assembly and
the KFRT receptacle. The retrievable-reusable KFRT seal assembly features external
high load rated lugs and high performance V-seal assembly for elevated bottom hole
temperatures and multiple fluids compatibility.
The KFRT receptacle is a one-piece design to facilitate high torque, tensile, and
pressure ratings. The KFRT receptacle incorporates a stab-in guide, internal J-slot,
and polished seal bore.

Simple Operation
The KFRT is designed for ease of downhole operation. Once the liner has been
installed, open hole packers and liner hanger packer have been set and tested, simply
apply compression to the run-in string, apply 1/4 right-hand turn and pick up to
disconnect.
A tie-back fracturing string can be reconnected with straight stab-in KFRT recep-
tacle with the KFRT seal assembly.

Full Bore Inside Diameter

The minimum ID through the KFRT is equal to the minimum liner ID.

K-Frac Flow Lock Collar

Logan Kline Tools’ K-Frac Flow Lock Collar is the lowermost component above
the liner shoe track. The K-Frac Flow Lock Collar allows well fluid to fill up
during liner installation; circulation for well fluid displacement once the liner is at
depth and closed, provides liner pressure integrity for setting of the K-Pak Open
Hole Packers, the liner hanger packer, and opening of the K-Frac Hydraulic
Actuated Starter Valve.

Ball Actuated
The K-Frac Flow Lock Collar remains open for circulation until the correspond-
ing ball is circulated to the collar.

K-Pak Open Hole Anchor

The Logan Kline Tools K-Pak Open Hole Anchor is hydraulically set. Tubing
pressure is used to set the anchor and the setting force is locked into the K-Pak
by a ratcheting system. The element is recessed to reduce open hole friction and
wearing of the element in preset conditions. The slips create an anchor into the
open hole rock face to help ensure the integrity of the liner.
The K-Pak Open Hole Anchor is designed for selective setting pressures. Multiple

Crest III Packer

Logan Kline Tools’ Crest III Packer is a weight set service packer for high-pressure
remedial work such as acidizing, fracturing, and squeeze cementing. It sets with
minimal tubing manipulation and will withstand differential pressure from above or
below.
When set, a balance piston is actuated as pressure increases, downward force is ex-
erted on the inner mandrel, thus ensuring the equalizing valve is not pumped open.
A large integral fluid bypass allows the packer to be run quickly with minimal
chance of swabbing off packing elements or dulling hold-down slips. Rotation is
not required to retrieve the tool, and its equalizing valve opens with the first upward
movement.
Standard equipment includes carbide tipped hold-down slips, lower slips, and drag
blocks.

CPW Retrievable Squeeze Packer

Logan Kline Tools’ CPW Retrievable Squeeze Packer is designed to perform all the
tasks required of a retrievable stimulation and work over packer and withstand high
pressures from above or below. It can be used in all types of squeeze cementing,
fracturing, and acidizing with subsequent testing.

The hydraulically actuated hold down slips and mechanical lower slips are carbide
tipped for long and dependable service. The CPW’s packing element system is the
proven three-section type, but it is heavier and more reliable than packer systems
with an integral bypass.

This Logan Kline Tools’ packer runs with a separate unloader, such as the Locking
Compression Unloader, eliminating the possibility of pumping open that can occur
with many equalizing valves.

Transpack Cementer
Logan Kline Tools’ Transpack Cementer is designed to provide a tension set full
opening packer for remedial operations such as acidizing, fracturing, squeeze ce-
menting, and casing testing. It can also be run above our WLTC Retrievable Bridge
Plug (with a special J-slot).
This packer will remain tightly set and packed off with a high-pressure differential
from either the tubing or annulus. It has fully enclosed bi-directional slips and large
surface area drag blocks, both of which are fitted with durable tungsten carbide
inserts.
The Transpack Cementer is often run above a retrievable bridge plug for remedial
work and leak testing. An unloader that closes in tension, such as the Logan Kline
Tools’ Tension Unloader, is run above the packer to provide a means of equalizing
tubing and annulus pressure when required. Only a half turn of tubing rotation is
necessary to set or release this packer, and if stuck, two emergency release procedures
are available.

K-10 Packer
The K-10 Packer is a retrievable packer that functions like a permanent drillable
packer. It is ideal for many injection, production, and zone isolation functions.
Once it is set, it mechanically locks for no movement and will hold pressure from
above or below with no requirement for set down weight, tension, or hydraulic hold
down to maintain its pack-off. When run with an on/off tool, the tubing string can
be disconnected and removed while the packer is left in its set position.
This Logan Kline Tools’ packer is ideal for isolating bad sections of casing in pump-
ing wells, and allows the tubing to be set in neutral so seasonal fluid temperature
changes in waterflood wells do not cause problems. Tubing elongation will not affect
the pack-off. The tubing also can be in tension, which allows the packer to be used
as a tubing anchor/catcher when required.
Since it is a short packer, the K-10 is extremely useful in highly deviated wells and is
designed to withstand up to 10,000 psi differential pressure. Its slips and drag blocks
are carbide-tipped.
The slips are contained inside a slip window to minimize the possibility of hanging
up on casing ID abnormalities. The combination of the K-10 Packer’s short length
and enclosed slips make this tool an excellent choice for horizontal applications.
Using a standard pressure setting device, the K-10 Packer is also designed to be run
and set on wireline.

WLTC Retrievable Bridge Plug

Logan Kline Tools’ WLTC Retrievable Bridge Plug is designed to perform all tasks
normally required of a tubing run packer-type bridge plug and can be quickly con-
verted to run and set on wireline. It is designed to be rugged and compact (the 41/2"
size is only 63 inches long).
When run on tubing, the WLTC can be set deep or shallow because the packing
element system can be energized with compression or tension. This bridge plug will
withstand high differential pressures from above or below, while its internal bypass
valve is easily opened to equalize fully prior to release.
Activated slips are always on the low-pressure side with the WLTC design to ensure
that a tight pack-off is maintained. When run on tubing, a circulation passage
through the tool reduces the need for swabbing by allowing fluid to bypass inter-
nally. When set, another passage allows effective washing of sand and debris above
the elements and ensures easy release and retrieval.
Standard equipment on the WLTC Retrievable Bridge Plug includes tungsten
carbide-tipped slips and drag blocks, which are long-lasting and allow for easy set-
ting in the hardest casings. Logan Kline Tools’ Spring-Loaded Overshot is used to
run (tubing set) and retrieve (tubing or wireline set) the WLTC Bridge Plug. Sealer
ball catcher assemblies are also available for mechanical and wireline settings.

Spring-Loaded Overshot
Logan Kline Tools’ Spring-Loaded Overshot is designed to run and retrieve the
Logan Kline Tools WLTC Retrievable Bridge Plug.

A force of several hundred pounds (varies with size) is required to install the over-
shot onto the bridge plug. After the plug is run to the desired location and set, the
tubing string can be released from the plug by holding left-hand torque in the down
position and picking up. Cutting teeth are provided on the washover shoe of the
overshot to help cut through sand and debris.

Retrieval of the WLTC Retrievable Bridge Plug is accomplished by lowering the

tubing string until the overshot contacts the plug. A spring inside the overshot helps
prevent inadvertent separation by holding the retrieving lugs on the bridge plug
down in the J-slots.

Tension Unloader
Logan Kline Tools’ Tension Unloader provides a means of equalizing differential
pressure after completing squeeze cementing or other remedial work below a packer.

When run above a tension-set squeeze packer, the Tension Unloader will remain
open going in or out of the well due to an internal friction device. The tension used
to set the packer will also close the unloader and permit pressure work below the
packer.

The Tension Unloader can be opened by setting sufficient weight on the packer to
overcome the internal friction device. Resistance to closing or opening can easily
be adjusted in the field, from a minimum of zero to a maximum of approximately

Tubing Swivel
Friction and back-off are two of the biggest problems when working downhole
and trying to manipulate packers, anchors, and bridge plugs. A Logan Kline Tools
circulating Tubing Swivel placed between the tubing string and elevators provides
the solution by minimizing friction to ease rotation and reduce the possibility of
backing off the top collar.

Logan Kline Tools’ Tubing Swivel allows surface connections to remain in place
while the tubing string rotates or moves vertically. In addition to providing a lifting
point for the elevators located above a high-capacity thrust bearing, these swivels
also permit one or two connections for discharge or flow lines. A single flow connec-
tion that runs transverse to the tubing axis is normally provided. Two such transverse
connections, or a single in-line connection that allows wireline tools to run through
the swivel, are options.

Wireline tools may be run through the Tubing Swivel by substituting the standard
handling sub with a hollow handling sub.

Logan Kline Tools’ Tubing Swivels are available in three sizes: standard, heavy duty,
and extra heavy duty. The larger sizes are equipped with a box/pin saver sub.

Mechanical Collar Locator

Logan Kline Tools’ Mechanical Collar Locator provides a means of precisely locating
casing collars while running tubing. It can be made up in the tubing string at any
point and oriented to indicate collar locations while running in or out of the well.

The body of the Mechanical Collar Locator is constructed of high-strength alloy

steel and is of sufficient length to re-cut both box and pin threads several times. The
locator blocks are carburized for long wear.

The Logan Kline Tools Mechanical Collar Locator is available in a special sand
control version. This option is intended for use in heavy sand environments where
there is a possibility of sand getting under the blocks and limiting their compression
range, which has been known to damage the Mechanical Collar Locator blocks and
hinder the effectiveness of the tool.

Pressure Balanced Equalizing Valve

Logan Kline Tools’ Pressure Balanced Equalizing Valve is designed to permit certain
packers to run as solid element bridge plugs.

With this equalizing valve attached, a mechanically set locking packer can be left in
the well to serve as a bridge plug during remedial operations. The Pressure Balanced
Equalizing Valve is then opened prior to retrieval to allow differential pressure to be
equalized before the packer is released.

An overshot that is used to run and retrieve the Pressure Balanced Equalizing Valve
is available.

KS1-XW Packer
Logan Kline Tools’ KS1-XW Packer meets the requirements for production, stimu-
lation, and injection applications. The full-opening design provides unrestricted flow
and allows wireline tools to pass. Mechanical lock-setting action holds substantial
pressures from above or below without tubing weight or tension. A large internal
bypass reduces the swabbing effect when running or retrieving. The bypass closes
when the packer is set and opens before releasing the upper slips to allow for pres-
sure equalization.

The standard KS1-XW Packer will withstand differential pressures up to 7,000 psi.
Carbide-tipped slips are optional. The packer is also available in a 10,000 psi ver-
sion. A standard T-2 on/off tool allows the tubing to be disconnected and retrieved
without removing the packer. The packer can be set with compression, tension, or
wireline, to provide options for deployment in shallow and deep applications.

The KS1-XW Packer is comparable to the Weatherford Arrowset 1-X Packer.

Lockdown Anchor
The Logan Kline Tools Lockdown Anchor (LDAC) is a rugged anchor-catcher
that operates with minimum tubing string rotation (less than a 1/4-turn) to set or
release. The no-torque option resists right-hand rotation of the tubing string while
set, yet allows the string to rotate the 1/4-turn required to release.

Big Bore Tubing Packer

The Logan Kline Tools Big Bore Tubing Packer is designed to provide a leak-free seal
inside a tubing string with a bore larger than other tubing packers. It can run as a
tension packer or a “hook wall” compression packer. It has left-hand safety threads
at each end in case it becomes stuck.

Options include a double element packing system along with box or pin connec-
tions at either end. Various tubing connections are available. This Logan Kline Tools
Big Bore Tubing Packer can also be used as a tension anchor by replacing the pack-
ing element with a steel sleeve.

Scab Liner Assembly

Logan Kline Tools’ Scab Liner Assembly is an economical method of isolating cas-
ing leaks or existing perforations in producing and injection wells. It can eliminate
repetitive squeezing and the need to install a full liner. This assembly is fully retriev-
able and incorporates a unique design with large bore sizes that enable standard
tubing to run through the liner.

Producing Wells
For casing leaks in producing wells, a tubing anchor/catcher can be installed below
and gas can be produced through the annulus past the isolated zone to the surface,
thus preventing locking of the rod pump. The Scab Liner Assembly is available from
31/8" to 95/8".

Injection Wells
Casing leaks can be isolated in injection wells by using a seal bore packer or a
retrievable injection packer with an on/off tool, then installing the Scab Liner As-
sembly above to isolate the leak. The tubing string can run through the assembly
and is stung into the seal bore packer or latched onto the injection packer.

Tubing Anchor/Catcher
Logan Kline Tools’ Tubing Anchor/Catcher is a rugged anchor that employs drag
blocks (rather than drag springs) and fully enclosed large cross-section slips for maxi-
mum safety. It has a tension shear release that is easily adjustable in the field.

To set the slips, run to setting depth and rotate to the left. Pick up and sit down sev-
eral times while turning to the left to ensure a tight set. To release, rotate to the right
with the tubing in neutral. The slips will retract to the run-in position and the tub-
ing can be pulled from the well or the anchor relocated. If the anchor is stuck, pick
up and sit down several times while turning to the right to free the slips. Should
this fail to free the anchor, pull tension to break the shear pins. This will unload the
lower cone and pick up slips from above. The anchor can now be pulled from the
well but cannot be set again until it is redressed.

Dual-String Anchor
Logan Kline Tools’ Dual-String Anchor provides a means of anchoring the second
or short tubing string in a dual completion.

It consists of two parts:

An anchor body with long-string connection threads on one side, top and
bottom and a short-string receptacle with J-lugs on the opposite side, and
A short-string latch with J-slots on the bottom and short-string connection
threads on the top.

The anchor is run above a production packer. After the packer is set, the second
string is run with the short string latch at the bottom. When the anchor is con-
tacted, the latch will automatically locate and latch in the hole with J-lugs. The short
string can then be landed in tension, compression, or neutral, as appropriate.

To release the short string, set weight, then raise it while rotating to the right.

Downhole Swivel Joint

The Logan Kline Tools Downhole Swivel Joint allows rotation of the tubing string
even when the section below is stuck. Thrust bearings are incorporated in the joint
to reduce friction when the tubing is in tension or compression during rotation.
The Downhole Swivel Joint is often used below a Logan Kline Tools’ Tubing An-
chor/Catcher when the tailpipe will be in mud to facilitate rotation required to set
the anchor. It is available for 1.900", 23/8", and 27/8" tubing.

Hydraulic Tubing Drain

Logan Kline Tools’ Hydraulic Tubing Drain is designed to provide a means of
equalizing pressures between the tubing and annulus by simply over-pressurizing
the tubing string to a pre-set point. When the pre-set point is reached, a set of shear
pins will break and the external sleeve will move down to uncover the ports in the
inside nipple. The pressure differential that causes the shear pins to break is adjust-
able by adding or subtracting shear screws from the sleeve. The drain is available in
most common tubing sizes. Opening pressure is generally adjustable between 1,500
and 3,500 psi.
