I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
 define compound words
 identify compound words
 write sentences using compound words

III. Lesson Proper


Motivation:
I need 2 volunteers. On the screen, you will see rumbled letters. Rearrange the letters to make it correct. The
first letter is already given.

Discussion:

Compound words are created when two words come together to form a new word.
Some questions to ask the students to get them thinking....

Did anyone brush their teeth this morning? What did you use? Toothbrush and toothpaste are both compound words!

Did anyone (another compound word!) have breakfast this morning? You all ate a compound word today! Break fast.
Did anyone eat lunch this afternoon? Another compound word! After noon.
Generalization:
Now, that we have learned about a compound words,
Let’s have short review.

1. What is compound words again?


Answer: Compound words are words that are made up of two small words.
2. What will happen to the meaning of the words if we are going to combine two words?
Answer: If two words are combined, the meaning of the combined words are changes.
3. Based on the examples we have earlier; what other combined words can you give?
Answer: (Pupils will give their responses.)
Application:
This time, you will imagine I’m your Fairy Godmother. I have a basket and a magic wand and because all of
you are kind and merciful I will give you a bar of gold. I need your communication skills. The word you have
now is not a real compound word. Meaning it has a partner in order to form a compound words. I will let you to
search the words that correspond to the word that you are holding. You have 5 minutes to work on this activity.
Find the missing partner of your word silently.

Time is up. Finish or unfinished let’s discuss your answer.
