• How can you find the figure of an irregular figure made
up of square and rectangle?
• What are the given dimensions for each figure?
• How many figures were formed?

To get the area of the irregular figures made up of squares and

 rectangles; combine the area of the figures.

Figure 1:
Step 1. Get the area of the first figure (square) by multiplying
the given side by itself. Therefore, the formula is side
by side

(s x s).
Example: 5 x 5 = 25 m2 Area of the square

Step 2. Get the area of the second figure (rectangle) by

multiplying length and width. Therefore, the formula is
length x width

(l x w).
Example: 10 x 5= 50 m2 Area of the rectangle

Step 3: Combine/Add the area of the figures.

Area of the square: 25 m2

Area of the rectangle: 50 m2

25 m2 + 50 m2 = 75 m2 area of the garden plot
