INTRODUCTION

We are faced with certain responsibilities every day. They arise from the many roles we
play in life. We have responsibilities as members of our family, as students, as members
of the Church, and as citizens of our country. These responsibilities may be big or small
tasks that need to be accomplished so that our life and those of the people around us
can go on smoothly. The apostles also had responsibilities given to them by Jesus. It was
during the last apparition of Jesus to them just before He ascended into heaven that He
gave the apostles their responsibilities. He commissioned them to “go and make disciples
of all nations, to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy
Spirit’ and to “teach them all” that He has given them in the course of their three-year
association with Him.

CHRISTIAN MESSAGE
Doctrine: The coming of the Holy Spirit into the community of the disciples of Jesus as
promised by the Father through Jesus himself gave birth to the Church.
Morals: The Holy Spirit empowered the members of God’s family to live a new way of life
based on the Christ’s command on the love of God and neighbors.
Worship: Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit. Fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love
Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the
earth.
Have students read Acts 1:1-11 about the Ascension of Christ
Asks the students:
1. Who are present in the Ascension of Christ?
2. Why do you think Jesus ascend back to heaven?
3. Why did Jesus leave those words to his disciples?

Christ and to a sharing in his work and mission.
