FOOTNOTE:
A meme created by trolls from a reality series after a grammatical error.
SUMMARY:
After Kim Chui’s appearance on Laban Kapamilya Facebook Live which is a campaign to
support ABS-CBN’s shut down, an excerpt of her statement triggered trolls on social media to
reign her as queen of parodies because of the ill-famed “Law of Classroom.” It turned the social
media into an enormous chaos as Facebook users, Youtube vloggers, and Tiktokers used this as
an advantage for their own benefit. For the past weeks since that Facebook live, Kim Chui’s
voice, face and name were everywhere. The excerpt’s notorious popularity caused Kim Chui to
be a social media joke. But this celebrification of KIm is a blessing for some influencers and
producers yet malicious as it was obviously an effort to humiliate and harass Kim Chui.
REACTION:
Smart-shaming is indeed an issue nowadays just as how Kim Chui expressed her opinion on
ABS-CBN’s shutdown. What she did was accidental and an honest mistake. People tend to push
themselves to their highest expectation when in fact that is a very shameful and inappropriate
judgement and mindset. The netizen and trolls used this as an advantage for their own benefit
setting aside the point that this was humiliating the person. As for Kim Chui, she must’ve chosen
her words correctly and intellectually remembering that she’s existing in a world of jury. She
must keep in mind the line “Think before you click(speak).” This excerpt’s popularity wasn’t an
excuse to drag another person down and gain own’s benefit when people should just lift each
other up and make this world a better place to live in.
