SERVICE BULLETIN
SUMMARY
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin upgrades the FOMAX hardware if necessary and activates the
FOMAX 3.1.2 system. The FOMAX system supports the maintenance operations, the
dataloading operations and all the AIRBUS operations (collects the onboard data and
sends these data to AIRBUS).
This software modification consists in installing:
- The FOMAX core software (FIN 64TASW1)

- The FOMAX configuration data software (FIN 64TASW2)
- The FOMAX A/L customization data software (FIN 64TASW3)
- The FOMAX AIRBUS customization data software (FIN 64TASW4).
NOTE: The activation for the Skywise connectivity is not managed by this Service
Bulletin, refer to ISI 46.26.00012 "Skywise - Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)
Card Activation" in order to activate it.
NOTE: The Fomax 3 improvement and impacts on ground FOMAX are described
in ISI 46.26.00017. For Airline operating FOMAX options, a new A/L FOMAX
CUSTOMIZATION DATA (64TASW3) P/N has to be created by the Airline for
FOMAX 3 to be consistent with system capability.
NOTE: The Fomax maintainability and associated tools are described in ISI
46.26.00014.

Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin fulfills the operator’s request.

The Operational/Maintenance Consequences of this Service Bulletin are covered by

C. REASON
(1) History
This Service Bulletin is issued further to an operator's request.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin upgrades the FOMAX hardware if necessary and activates the
FOMAX 3.1.2 system. The FOMAX system supports the maintenance operations, the
dataloading operations and all the AIRBUS operations (collects the onboard data and
sends these data to AIRBUS).
This software modification consists in installing:
- The FOMAX core software (FIN 64TASW1)

- The FOMAX configuration data software (FIN 64TASW2)
- The FOMAX A/L customization data software (FIN 64TASW3)
- The FOMAX AIRBUS customization data software (FIN 64TASW4).
NOTE: The activation for the Skywise connectivity is not managed by this Service
Bulletin, refer to ISI 46.26.00012 "Skywise - Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)
Card Activation" in order to activate it.
NOTE: The Fomax 3 improvement and impacts on ground FOMAX are described
in ISI 46.26.00017. For Airline operating FOMAX options, a new A/L FOMAX
CUSTOMIZATION DATA (64TASW3) P/N has to be created by the Airline for
FOMAX 3 to be consistent with system capability.
NOTE: The Fomax maintainability and associated tools are described in ISI
46.26.00014.

G. MANPOWER

The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also
not included.

Modification

CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP ELECTRICAL

WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY AND MECHANICALLY
SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK, REPAIRS OR
MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING, COMPONENTS AND
THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:
- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC., AS
NECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS.
- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND
OTHER CONTAMINATION.
THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION AND
DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.

two messages can come into view:
- One, if the PDL detects that the software is not
signed (refer to the PDL user guide). You can
ignore this message that has no effect on the
aircraft software uploading.
- One, if the PDL detects an incorrect signature
(refer to the PDL user guide). The software
uploading will not be possible and you must use a
different software.
Because of a possible effect on data security,
Airbus recommends that you send a report of the
fault to the Aircraft Security Focal Point.

· FOMAX CORE software (64TASW1)
· FOMAX CONFIGURATION DATA software (64TASW2)
· A/L FOMAX CUSTOMIZATION DATA software (64TASW3)
· AIRBUS FOMAX CUSTOMIZATION DATA software (64TASW4).
NOTE: You can upload these last three software

components independently if the FOMAX CORE
software is uploaded.
NOTE: The FOMAX is operational only when all the four

software components are uploaded.
NOTE: After each software installation, the FOMAX

reboots automatically.
NOTE: The uploading of the FOMAX CORE software erases

the three software components related to the

NOTE: This procedure is an example given for the used

device.
NOTE: To connect the maintenance electronic device to the

Wi-Fi network, the first step is to select the
Service Set IDentifier (SSID). Then: - The operator
enters a password (security key) to complete the
connection, or - The connection is automatic with the
X509 credentials. - the FOMAX SSID and the password
are defined by the A/L in the A/L CUSTOMIZATION DATA
SOFTWARE. For more information on network connection,
contact your Engineering Department.
ACTION RESULT

(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the

adjacent area.
(3) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical

connectors (2).
(4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are

clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Install the FOMAX (1) on its rack (3).
(6) Push the FOMAX (1) on its rack (3) to connect the
electrical connectors (2).
(7) Engage the nut (4) on the lugs (5).
(8) Tighten the nut (4).
(9) If the defective FOMAX and its Airbus SIM card was
removed from the aircraft and unless the trouble
shooting task tell you to do not remove the Airbus
SIM card:
(a) Remove the Airbus SIM card from the new FOMAX
(Ref. AMM TASK 46-26-32-000-803).
(b) Install the Airbus SIM card that was retained

during the removal of the defective FOMAX into the
new FOMAX (Ref. AMM TASK 46-26-32-400-803). Put
the Airbus SIM card in the same slot as it was in
the defective FOMAX.
(10) If the defective FOMAX was removed from the

aircraft, install the Airline SIM card
(Ref. AMM TASK 46-26-32-400-802) that was retained
in the removal procedure into the new FOMAX. Put the
Airline SIM card in the same slot as it was in the
defective FOMAX.
(11) If there was not FOMAX installed in the aircraft,

install the Airline SIM card
(Ref. AMM TASK 46-26-32-400-802).
