Topic/ Title COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS

Content Standard

● The learner demonstrates understanding of appropriate grammatical signals


or expressions suitable to patterns of idea development.

Performance Standard

● The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a brief and


creative entertainment speech featuring a variety of effective
paragraphs, appropriate grammatical signals or expressions in topic
development, and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

Learning Competencies

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

1. memorize coordinating conjunctions through mnemonics;


2. explain the significance of coordinating conjunctions through
association; and
3. self-test through constructing sentences using coordinating
conjunctions.

Procedure

A. Elicit (5 minutes) Materials

Review students about the previous topic tackled through an Powerpoint


Activity. presentation

Activity: Problem, Solution or Cause and Effect!


Directions: Identify the underline words in each sentence
below and write whether it is a problem, solution, a cause or
effect.
______________1. Ana failed the exam because she didn’t study
her lesson.
______________2. Annoyed by boisterous laughter, he went away.
______________3. People go running as the fire gone wild.
______________4. John got a very low score in his Mathematics
subject.
______________5. Planting trees makes the world a better place
to live.

B. Engage (3 minutes)

Activity 2: Look at the Picture! Powerpoint

What could be the purpose of that
bridge? Can you identify a part of
speech that is similar to the
bridge’s function?

C. Explore (5 minutes)

Let the students define conjunction on their own. Powerpoint

D. Explain and Elaborate (15 minutes)

There will be a discussion about Coordinating Conjunction. PowerPoint


presentation
Let the students memorize coordinating conjunctions through
mnemonics.

Activity 3:What’s your FAV?


Questions: 1. What is your favorite conjunction in the
FANBOYS?
2. Can you make a sentence using your favorite
conjunction?

E. Extend (5 minutes)

Activity 4: Think, Think, Think PowerPoint


Question: What is the significance of the coordinating Presentation
conjunctions in sentences?

Can you be a bridge? Why or why not? And in what way are you
going to be a bridge?

F. Evaluate (5 minutes)

Let the students do self-test through constructing sentences PowerPoint


using coordinating conjunctions. Presentation

G. Agreement (2 minutes)
Create a mind map on coordinating conjunctions and their PowerPoint
functions. Presentation

A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for


remediation who scored below 80%
