    Activity 5: Synthesizing Ideas


    Guide Questions:
    1. Describe the objectives of the game Basketball?
    - As many as possible, shoot the basketball through your opponent's hoop.
    - Score more points than the other team.
    - Defend to prevent your opponent from scoring.

    2. What do you think are the reasons why basketball game is very popular in the
    different parts of the world?
    - Because basketball is an exciting play/game. And the game can be enjoyed by
    both the audience and the participant.

    3. Filipino fans are the number one basketball fans in the world. How can you justify
    this?
    - I can justify it because basketball game is being played by Filipinos in anywhere
    they want. And basketball is always the most popular sport in barangay
    competitions.

    EVALUATE

    Activity 3: “DO’s and DON’T”


    Directions: Read carefully the different scenario/situation on each number, identify if it is a
    must in a basketball game by answering “Do or Don’t”

    1. Dribbling the ball every time you have it. Do


    2. Defend your opponent even your team is in ball control (possession). Don’t
    3. Try to steal the ball to gain more possession to have more chances of scoring. Do
    4. Deliberately push and shove your opponent. Don’t
    5. Communicate with your team mates in every situation. Do

    7. Run as fast as you can on the entire game. Do
    8. Defend your goal at all cost to avoid your opponent to shoot the ball in it. Do

    Activity 4: Synthesizing Ideas

    Guide Questions:
    What are the relevance of having knowledge on the different terminologies used in
    basketball to the following :

    a. Players - In order the win the game and avoid violating the rule.
    b. Game Officials- To assure that the game is being played correctly and
    safely for both teams.
    c. Expectators/Fans- For them to understand what is going on and the
    present state of the game.
    d. Students- For kids to be aware about basketball and be encouraged to play the
    game because it is beneficial to them.

    EVALUATE

    Activity 5: “SPELL OUT YOUR NAME”


    Directions: Using the letters your FIRST name list down basketball terminologies not mentioned
    (listed) on activity# 3.
    Example: ARJAY

    E- Elbow: Illegal contact with the elbow by an opponent.

    R- Reverse Dribble: Otherwise known as "spin dribble" and is used to reverse direction of the
    ball.
    I- Intentional Foul: A defense player fouls in order to stop the clock.
    C- Court: The floor upon which the game of basketball is played.

    A- Alternating-possession rule: A rule in which teams take turns possessing the ball after
    stopped plays.
