-INVOLVEMENT IN THE CO- CURICULUM ACTIVITY

DATO CAN YOU HERE ME?

GOOD MORNING AND THANK YOU TO DATO, WAKIL JABATAN AND SPP FOR GIVING ME THIS
OPPURTUNITY.

MY NAME IS SEETHA DEVI SELLAIYAH. I AM 29YEARS OLD AND I LIVE IN NILAI.NS

I HOLD A DIPLOMA AND BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN EDUCATION WITH HONOURS MAJORING IN TESl AND
MINORING IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION FROM MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY SHAH ALAM.

I HAVE 7 YEARS OF TEACHING EXPERIENCE IN FEW PRIVATE AND INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS.

I ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AS A TEMPORARY/PRACTICUM

TEACHER DURING MY INTERSHIP.

CURRENTLY, IM WORKING AS ENGLISH AND MATHS TEACHER IN ZENITH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,

SEREMBAN.

FOR MY EXTRA CURICULUM ACTIVITY,

I WILL START WITH MY SCHOOL, I WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN ST. JOHN AMBULANCE SOCIETY.

I WAS ALSO VERY ACTIVE IN SPORTS, I HAVE PLAYED PING PONG AND NETBALL FOR THE SCHOOL.

IN UNIVERSITY, I HAVE CONDUCTED FEW PROGRAMS FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE CHILDREN.

 WE DID VOLUNTEERING TEACHING FOR STUDENTS WITH LOW PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH IN PPR
PANTAI RIA AT LEMBAH PANTAI.
- I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE THE DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH FUN LEARNING CAMP FOR ORANG ASLI
STUDENTS IN CAMERON HIGHLANDS

FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS IN THE TEACHING INDUSTRY, I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I HAVE TRAINED
STUDENTS FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING, INVOLVED IN ROBOTICS SOCIETY TO ASSIST AND GUIDE STUDENT IN
PREPARING FOR COMPETITIONS AND TRAIN STUDENTS FOR ACTION SONG COMPETITION FOR DISTRICT
LEVEL.

EXPERINCE IN TEACHING UNDER PREVILAGE COMMUNITY

- I WILL START WITH THE ONE IN PPR 1ST , MOST OF THE STUDENT IN PPR ARE NEGLECTED BY
THEIR PARENTS BECAUSE OF THEIR JOB NATURE. WE AS TEACHERS WE FILL IN THE PARENTS
SHOES BY ORGANISING AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMME SUCH AS STORY TELLING AND FUN
LEARNING GAMES.
- MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE IN KAMPUNG ORANG ASLI WAS QUITE DIFFERENT. THIS IS DUE TO
LANGUAGE BARRIER AND THE MENTALLITY OF THE PARENTS OF NOT CARING ABOUT THE
CHILDREN’S EDUCATION. DUE TO THIS, WE HAD ISSUES IN GETTING THE STUDENTS INVOVED IN
OUR PROGGRAME. WE HAD TO MAKE EFFORT TO CONNECT TO THEIR PARENTS TO GET THEIR
SUPPORT IN PROGRAMME. WE HAD TO GO EXTRA MILE IN TERMS OF COMMUNICATING AND
ARRANGE A DINNER WITH THE COMMUNITY TO GIVE AWARENESS ON THE IMPORANTACE OF
EDUCATION. THIS HAS HELPED US TO CONNECT TO THE STUDENTS AND PARENTS BETTER.

1. WHY DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER

I WOULD LIKE TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE I CAME FROM A LESS FORTUNATE FAMILY, AND MY TEACHER
HAS BEEN MY ROLE MODEL AND I AM WHERE I AM BECAUSE OF MY PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER. HER
NAME IS PN ROHANA. JUST LIKE HER, I WOULD LIKE TO INSPIRE THE FUTURE GENERATION AND BRING A
GOOD CHANGE TO THE WORLD. ON TOP OF THAT, I MAY ABLE TO IMPACT LIFE LESSONS THAT THEY
WILL NEVER FORGET AND PUTS ME IN A POSITION TO INFLUENCE THEIR DECISIONS, BEHAVOIOURS,
STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES AND IMAGINATIONS.

2.WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS

STRENGTH

1. I have good listening skills, and I believe to understand the emotions and problems children
face nowadays. Benefiting from this ability, I can connect with children on a very personal
level, which helps me to gain their trust. As an example, I have helped broken family student
by giving them emotional support to excel in their studies.
2. My another strength is creativity. Students definitely won’t get bored in my lessons. I
do not stick to lecturing, at least not all the time. Learning by playing, using
interactive technology in the classes, changing roles of teacher and students–are
just some of the teaching methods I use. So far the feedback has been great. The
children pay attention in the classes, because they enjoy them.

WEAKNESS
1. My greatest weakness is that I sometimes have trouble saying ‘no’ to requests and end up
taking on more than I can handle. In the past, this has led me to feel stressed or burnt out. To
help myself improve in this area, I have learnt to delegate my works with my fellow collegues
and friends who has the same mindset of helping our students.

2. Besides that, I have received few feedbacks that I am a workoholic. This is

because I have difficulties to keep healthy balance between work and my
personal life. I have made it a point to focus on creating space in my schedule to
focus on spending quality time with my family.

3. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR US TO LEARN ENGLISH

ENGLISH

4. 1. English is a global language

5. English is the most commonly spoken language in the world. One out of five
people can speak or at least understand English!
6. 2. Studying English can help you get a job
7. English is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism.
Knowing English increases your chances of getting a good job in a multinational
company within your home country or of finding work abroad.
8. 3. Learning English can help you meet new people
9. English is the official language of 53 countries and is used as a lingua franca (a
mutually known language) by people from all around the world. This means that
whether you’re working in Beijing, or travelling in Brazil, studying English can
help you have a conversation with people from all over the world.
10.4. Many scientific papers are written in English
11. In the last century, the number of scientific papers written in English has started
to outweigh the number of papers written in the native language of the
researcher. In the Netherlands, for example, the ratio is a surprising 40 to 1. For
this reason, having a knowledge of English is incredibly important to those
working in the scientific field.
12.5. English is the language of the media industry
13. Because of the prominence of Hollywood in global media, an enormous amount
of films, TV shows and popular songs are written in English. If you speak English,
you won't need to rely on translations and subtitles anymore to enjoy your
favourite books, songs, films and TV shows.
14.6. English is the language of the Internet.
15. English is a particularly important language online with more than half the content
on the internet written in English. As well as this, some of the world’s largest tech
companies are based in English speaking countries.
16.7. Travelling is a lot easier with a good knowledge of English
17. Imagine you’re a Spanish person on holiday in Thailand, while your hotel
receptionist might not be able to answer your question in Spanish, it’s likely they
will be able to answer your question in English.
18.8. English is one of the most important languages for business
19. Whether you’re a business owner, student or employee, English is incredibly
important in the business world. English is considered to be one of the most
important business languages due to being the de facto language of the United
States and the official language of the UK, Canada, India and South Africa.
20.9. With English, you can study all over the world
21. Since English is spoken in so many different countries there are thousands of
schools and universities around the world that offer programmes in English. If
you speak good academic English, there're lots of opportunities for you to find an
appropriate school and course to suit your needs. Find out about going
to university in an English speaking country.
22.10. English gives you access to multiple cultures
23. Good knowledge of English will allow you to access films, music and literature
from hundreds of countries around the globe. Not to mention the fact that
numerous books from across the world are translated into English. Few
experiences will make you grow as a person more than learning the values,
habits and way of life in a culture that is different from yours.
