IELTS SPEAKING TOPIC: LANGUAGE

Part 1:
1. What languages can you speak?
Well, I am a bilingual, so I can speak two languages, that is Vietnamese- my
mother tongue and English. Honestly, I just speak English at a convesational
level, and I am trying my best to improve it everyday top be fluent in it.
2. What languages would you like to learn in the future?
Now, I have tendency to learn another language down the road as I wanna
concentrate on English. But if I have a chance to challenge myself, Korean is
the priority in my must-learn list. I choose it because I idolize some boy and
girl groups of K-POP. Therefore, it would be better if I am able to undersand
what they sing, what they say.
3. How do you learn a foreign language?
I consider that learning a new language requires a large amount of time and
money as well, so I refer to learn it online and use free documents. In the
leisure time, I also watch some programs or listen to music that utilize these
foreign languages. It would be the effective ways to expose to a new
language, new culture but not too difficult.

4. How are languages taught and learned in your school?

`in my school, I am learned Vietnamese and English. In terms of

Vietnamese, the teachers direct all students how to be proficient in using
vocabulary, grammar and show us the beauty of Vietnamese culture. About
english, thay also teach the flatform of english like pronunciation,
vocabulary, grammar,… 4 skills simultaneously.

Part 2:

Describe a language other than English that you would like

to learn.

 What the language is?

 Where it is spoken?
 What do you think would it be difficult?
 And what would be easy about learning the language and explain why you would
like to learn it.

Being a bilingual or duolingual would not only adds up your skill but also
enhance your ability and personal development. Without a international language
like english, as I was saying, korean is definitely my good choice. Korean is
spoken in South Korea and North Korea as their mother tongue. contracy to the
popular belief that this language is not useful and flexible, I do think that each
language have their own benefits and it always helps the learners in more ways
than one. Honestly, I have to admit that korean is not an easy language that
everyone can learn it in the short period of time. This language wouldn’t utilize the
normal alphabet but use their own one. From my obsevation, it is sophisticated for
those who have not the self- discipline and full commitment. In other perspective,
korean would be the priority for those who love the asian culture and Korean
culture in particular. Actually, learning a new language like korean requires you
have enough efforts and dedication in oder to improve the skills and broaden your
horizon as well. To me, I am a sucker for the allure of korean beauty, so I fond of
finding the culture, food or customs of korea. Therefore, being fluent in Korean
would helps me to understand it with ease. When I was growing up, I have exposed
to many culture through social media, films,… and I love attraction of korean
beauty, its food like tookboki,… and hanbok. Simultaneously, I idolize a K-pop
girlgroup – Blackpink , so I want to expand my knowledge about korea to enhance
my understanding of their life, what they say, they sing. And luckily, when I have a
opportunity to meet them or another native speaker, I can strike a convesation and
share my thinking, my opinion perfectly.

Part 3:

1. Do you want to become a foreign language teacher in

the future? Why?

In my childhood, I wanted to be a English teacher to stand in the middle of

class to convey knowledge. However, when I was growing up, it is gradually
pale in my mind because of other passions. In the foreseeable future, there is
more likely to become a part-time teacher than professional one. In my
country, become a foreign teacher requires many cedentials and academic
degrees, so it hard to be a legitimate teacher, to be honest. Besides that, you
also have to attend some special trainings about pedagogical skills like the
ability to improvise in class or handle the difficult situations,… moreover,
you must widen your horizon and learn more teaching methods to be
proficient in your area and whatever you say is trustwothy and valueable.

2. Why is there a strong demand for language skills?

In the globalization world, language skills play a cucial role in our life. It does
wonder for the connection of each country in economical and policial areas.
Therefore, each individual have to enhance the language skills to seize the
opportunities in the competive edge. In the company, possessing the employers
who are bilingual or duolingual would help them strengthen the bonds of
international company and increase the interaction of foreign customers.

3. What is the difference between talking over the phone

and face-to-face conversation?
There are a lot of possible aspects could contribute to the difference between
over the phone and in- person interaction. In terms of calling by phone, it is
more convenient than face to face conversation as we can have cross-border
connection. However, compared to meeting people in real life, it can not
convey holistically your message because only your voice, words and
intonation work as means to communicate with others. Talking about face-
to-face convesation, you can utilize your own eye contact, facial expression
or body language to convey your thinking. From that, the listener can make
sense of it perfectly.
